Well as i've said earlier I run 195/40 16 dunlop SP Sport 9000 and I contacted Dunlop about the wheel width sizes that this tyre can run on and they told me 6.5" to 7.5" so i'm running only .5" outside their limits, which fair enough is outside but not extravagently. But as I said mine are on for 10 weeks a year or so. Your choice? NO....My choice? YES. End of story for me. Thanks
Aesthetics cant normaly be rationaly explained as its just whatever floats your boat. i cant explain why i like the look of mk2 golfs so much.
i'd say it looks good because it gives the car a wide stance, and a bit more aggression. Yes i also agree it is dangerous, but also agree it looks cool.
Looks like a blowout waiting to happen... either because the tyres don't fit the rims, or because they'll rub on the arches. Do you like to wear the wrong size shoes too?
Also, the brake pads would last longer..... and you wouldnt get brake dust on your wheels...... thus saving time cleaning the car! Im seeing no negatives here......
Awesome???? effing dangerous and pointless each to their own re looks, but dangerous/unsafe is a different matter
I read somewhere that it started in Germany due to TuV regulations stating that tyres had to be certain dimensions, but rims did not, thus the stretched look was born. I'd rather have a safe car myself like...
Re: above post - I got pulled by the Police for mine. Apparently the rule book (in the UK) states that the tyre tread can't stick out past the bodywork, which mine didn't, even though the wheel was way past it. She agreed to give me the benefit of the doubt, and let me go. I didn't risk leaving them on for the MOT though! Matt.
