Had a bit of tartan left over from 'The Third' then did you? Great work and attention to detail... as ever!
Just a little bit spare Mike LOL Few more pics from the last couple of weeks, slowly chipping away at it. The engine and box is now in, had to deal with a minor oil leak from the crank seal and clean up the block and gearbox casing. Sump back on and ready to go onto the box, tiny flywheel, this engine does like to rev... Box all clean. Got the exhaust all wrapped and the lambda boss in for the wideband probe, thats all on the car now. Engine in at long last!! The Dash is very nearly finished. Its getting close to the finished ride height...
Got another quick photo update for you all... Nearly there... New Mr Hillclimber inlet manifold fitted and also got one of his top water pipes, Thanks Jason, top service as always... Rear heat sheild cleaned and fitted. Had to mod the top of the alternator case to clear the pump assy on one of the carbs. Rad and fan mounted. Oil cooler mounted. Carbs are all in place now, had to mod my home built linkage tosuit the new inlet manifold and carb possition. Then started to build up the front end. Eyes. Mouth. Not much room in there. Just needs the bumper and the bonnet, might be done on Saturday
looking good as usual pab but i thought this was going to be your daily, if so arnt the carbs a bit much to maintain on a daily driven car
cant wait to see it finished Phil, looks even better in the flesh! Will it really end up being a daily though????
Never had issues with twin carbs on daily use with other cars I've had, once properly set up they shouldn't give any issues based on past experiences, I'll keep you all posted on running cost and reliability... Cheers Michael, you'll see it soon enough
What he said ^^ If there are no air leaks and they're clean inside (good quality fuel filter), it should be fine. Lots of production Alfas had them, and the only common problem with them was when the rubber carb mounts cracked and started letting air in. There are alloy replacement mounts these days too. Car's looking great, PAB!
Never had a problem on mine. Never used the choke on the Alfas either. Just pump the throttle a couple of times, and blip it for the first 30 seconds till it sorts itself out.
Really random question but wats that cable coming through the top heat shield? Is it for the speed sensor?!?! Cheers
Hello, yeah you've got it, as it's an earlier model car it still has a speedo cable for the speedo, the later cars had an electronic sender.
Ok here we go for a lttle bit more... Front bumper being built up. Bumper fitted... Bonnet now on too. Just got to fit up the bonnet and go through a huge snagging list, then its Wheel alignment, Dyno, Tax and away...
Got the gremlins sorted and the engine now runs yeay!! Great big massive thanks to Rubjonny for his help, nice one Just got a twenty ish point snagging list to get down now, then some tax and were away...
