Well things are going mostly ok with my new life, and the diet is working a treat too with me able to eat 'normal' foods from Wednesday. My clathes are now feel very baggy on me, and I shall start digging out some older clothes soon to see if I fit them yet.

I thought the stomach was a muscular sack so it shrinks and gets bigger as needed?

I noticed my stomach shrank when I went from eating one or two big meals a day too four to five, that I could no longer eat as much in a single sitting when it came to a curry night with the lads or something along those lines?

Gratz on the progress Ian btw

Funnily enough i'm trying to gain weight, at 16st now aiming for 17/18st by the end of Jan :)

It does, but it has a limit from which it doesn't shrink back from.

    Thank you.

Great news Ian, glad its going well for you!
As someone who has always had a problem with my weight, I really hope this works well for you. I struggle to loose weight, and I am on a 1500 calorie diet and have been for a while, I just dont loose weight at all. The only time I was really successful was through heavy weight training, which means I need to go back to the gym as soon as possible. I also have intolerances to certain food groups which doesnt help either.

    Normal foods taste amazing!!!!

So far I haven't had any issues with eating normal food, and as I head off to the Far East later today (Ipswich) I shall even be trying going out for a meal!! I have to admit that I feel great, and every day there is a slight excitment in my stomach as I stand on the scales. [:$]

Wish me luck as I travel to chav land

just a note on this, if you are not locing weight at that level, then I think you are accidentally eating more than you think

I can drop a couple of pounds a week quite easily through basic calorie reduction,

I can help if you want

    Good evening!!! [:D]

Had a couple of nudges for an update on my progress, so here is a quick update.

    7th November 2010 - 22st 6.0lbs (142.42Kg)

    Total Weight Lost - 7st 1.7lbs (45.22Kg) :)

My life is completely different now to as it was before the surgery with everything being a lot simpler to do now, even to the point that I am now no longer single as well!! :o I still have a long way to go (About 5.5 stones), but all good so far.

Only just seen this thread. Good work Ian.
I used to be overweight too (nothing like Ian though, I "only" weighed 18 stone), and I'm now 13 and a half stone. My problem was eating too much of the wrong food.
If anyone else is seriously considering losing weight, sign up to WeightWatchers. It worked brilliantly for me, as it taught me which foods were high in calories, and just how high in calories they were. I still use it today to make sure I keep the weight off, although it's now a habit.
I didn't go to the meetings, I just used the online version.

Congrats Ian. Making good progress. Its great to hear how you are doing.

Self discipline is the most important factor. As long as 6 out of 7 days a week you are sensible, there is no reason you cant treat yourself every now and then.

Avoiding starchy carbs is the most simple and effective way of losing weight. Bread, Pasta, Rice, Potato, Sweets, Cakes, Chocolate (except 1 piece of dark chocolate, high in cocoa content a day - for a treat), and some moderate excercise is all that is required to totally change your life.

A fist of meat, a fist of veg. 3-4 times a day. Winner all round.

Unfortunately, at the moment i dont practice what i preach and am 2 stone over weight. Thats changing this summer though, time to get back on track. I'll never be a complete gym rat like i used to be though. Just dont have the time and quite happy being injury free.
