Thanks to REddie I fitted the black badge then got the number plates on, just the rear badge to sort!
MOT was booked in for 1.30 so had a quick check over the car and realised I hadn't put in the new headlamp bulbs!! So a quick search around the workshop for some H4s and we were ready! I started the car and immediately noticed an intermittent misfire, why do these things always happen? I thought maybe it was the damp weather and proceeeded the 3 mile drive to the MOT test station. A few coughs and backfires followed by a few puffs of smoke but it soon cleared, the exhaust will be the next thing to be sorted as I felt like a 17 year old with the worst exhaust ever going past people! I got to the MOT and a few of the guys came over asking about it saying how nice it was etc, I said still a way to go yet till it's anywhere near finished! An hour later I was presented with a MOT certificate without any advisories, the drive back was a little bit more relaxed but it was still raining!!!
Will get some more at the weekend once the new arches are on? And door cards fitted, radio wired in! The list goes on! Need a golfGTI and 16v badge for the rear now
I might give it a clean today and get some pics for you Still a list of jobs that's getting longer! 1 find some decent sill mouldings 2 sort the exhaust as far to loud 3 central locking not working 4 build the BBS RS rims 5 fit rear badge once it arrives 6 find better door cards and fit membrane 7 tidy engine bay (that will be a year or so I think) 8 fit recaro centres to seats (going to source new foams first) 9 fit the new rear arches 10 drive it! I'm sure there will be a few other jobs to do!
Still no pics mike sorry! Went to the workshop yesterday to move some bits around and got the golf out and warmed it up, decided to take it for a run up the road, it drives nicely not to harsh as it's on Koni shocks/springs and stops well but doesn't have any real go! Now your probably going to say it needs some setting up which may produce a few more horses I agree but I think it's the fact my daily is around 320bhp/340ftIb and everything else seems a bit boring now!
You need to detune or sell your daily. The weekend car should always be the fun one, the one you look forward to driving and when you do drive, it puts a huge grin on your face and you don't want to put it back in the garage. Don't tell my wife but getting my MK1 back on the road is the real meaning of life. Cheers Paul
Cheers Paul lol Got the car on the ramp removed the exhaust and cut the pipe and fitted the middle box in place! Took it up the road and it has become more of a pleasure to drive! Bring on the summer!
