My choice would be the 720's but you do have to bear in mind that tyre choice is very car specific. Interesting to note that a few months ago I was the only one that rated the 720's over the F1's, now it seems split more 50/50. I originally went to buy some Yoko's and a mate who's a tyre specialist recommend the 720's, he didn't mention the F1's at all. I have a pair of F1's on the front at the moment, they're great tyres but compared to the 720's the sidewalls feel softer, the road noise is greater, the turn in isn't as sharp and I don't think they're as good in the wet. But that's just my opinion on my car.
Im quite surprised that you all rate the Toyo's that highly. I currently run Yoko A529's and yes they are pants in the wet, but the dry grip is unbelieveable. And i've had about 10,000 miles out of a set on the front. The Toyo's I had last year were alright, brilliant in the wet but you can get better. The best tyre I have ever come accross, and every local here swears by them, is the BF Goodrich Profiler. They are the same price as Toyo's, last the same time, but are so much grippier.
People, Stop talking about the T1-S, its old forget it! go and buy the new T1-R! Much better tyre! you don't notice much more grip in the dry but i find in the wet they grip abit more. They last twice as long too! I've still got a set of tyres on from december, the t1-s used to last me about 4 months if that! Also the road noise seems abit less too.
How much are T1-R's? I would'nt be able to run TI-S's with mileage I do! Has anyone run some T1-R's until they replaced them? If so what mileage did you get? On my CL which I'm selling it has 185/60/14 Continental Eco-contact tyres and after 14,000 odd miles on the front pair there is still loads of tread left! Are there any decent performance tyres that will wear similar to that?
