    I'm after a pair of 195 45 16's and if I type it into e-bay I get a long list for 80-100 which includes:

    Toyo T1R
    Toyo PX6
    Yokohama AS01
    Marshall KH35
    Falken ZE912
    Federal SS 595
    Kumho KH31
Yokohama S-drive (might have had them on my mk4 and rated them??)
    Avon ZV5

All are very similar in price, which would be best on a mk2 VR6 that does about 3000 road miles a year?

I have the yoko s-drives on my cabby in that size and they are ok in the dry but pretty rubbish in the wet, I have toyo t1rs on just about everything else and find that they are a good allrounded for what is actually a cheap tire, the old eagle F1's are the best allround road tire IMO.

I've gone through several sets of T1Rs; they're nice and grippy but wear at an astonising rate..

Latest tyre purchase was a pair of Uniroyal Rainsport 2s on the recommendation of many on here.. so far well chuffed with them.

Have a look on http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/ to see what the consensus is on the tyres you list ;)

goodyear eagle F1s are better in every way compared to t1r toyos, and the f1s wear slower.

as for the kumho ku31s, they are better than the toyos in the wet, in the dry the toyos are maybe a shade ahead, but i had 24k from my last set of kumhos

Out of that list the T1-Rs would grip the best.

I would say the Uniroyal Rainsport 2 as well if you can get them in your size.

The Kuhmos and Avons get my vote

had those kuhmo ones on my mondeo v6 and that got nailed everywhere, didn't wear down that fast and had decent grip

Was it T1-Rs you were using on the MK1 on the ring trip? They seemed very sticky in the dry to me. On your limit as well!
Else Uniroyal Rainsport 2 rubber. These are around 65quid fitted. And they do wet very well.

Are you kidding? My T1-Rs have been going for over 7k now at least and have been to the Ring twice! They are still going now albeit near the limit now. Good geometry and tyre rotation will have them last for a while at least. Also, bed them not going nuts when they are new and they might last a little longer than a few weeks ;). Any road tyre will break up if you go completely ape when new, the tread flexes and breaks up.

They would have still be on the vehicle if I had not 'squared' them during a brake lock up!

As Mike said really. I've not tried T1r's on my car but had the slightly cheaper proxes 4's. They were great in the dry, very predictable. They are showing signs of wear now though after about 8k of 'normal' driving.

I'm on rainsport 2's now and haven't noticed a huge difference in the wet if I'm honest. In the dry, they've caught me out a couple of times but in fairness that's not what they are for and I've only had them on the car for a month so am still getting used to them.

I think i'll go for the T1-R's because of local availability more than anything.

Should I be looking at the 84 load rated ones rather than to 80 rated ones with having the VR6 engine?

Please don't get ding-a-linga-long; got these on my Volvo after a blowout to get me around work this month and with rain the traction control has been flashing like a christmas tree in the wet
