the autocar test for an E36 M3 Evo was 13.8s at 107mph, if phats car did a 13.75 then it's gotta be quite close. I think phat had a different gearbox and obviously a stripped out car is gonna be faster than a road car.

Yes, it was as quick as an M3. I should know, I raced one from a standing start and kept up with him up to almost 90mph, then he slowed down.

the weight difference wasn't THAT much. i'd only ditched the interior, it still had all the steel panels and glass in it. Maybe 100KGs lighter, if that. plus the extra weight of the VR6 of course.

The gearbox is what's giving it the performance advantage, it's insane, accelerates hard as hell, even in 4th.

oh.. I ran a 14.2 last year. My girlfriend thought it wise to throw a way the cherished reciept so I can't comment on my sector times.

Car feels a lot faster now I've run the charger in some more. Plus I'll have the benefit of LSD this year.. woo hoo!

PhatVR6, is your vr6 a standard 2.9 engine? What gearbox are you using?

I'm very keen on the VR6 idea, as I can almost afford to insure one now, was thinking of getting a mk2 16v gti, saving up for a vr6 lump and dropping it in next year so the insure will be even less!

Bout how much does a vr6 engine cost, if it was taken out of a car?

    Chris.

That was with the 6 speed Gemini box with the 3.94 final drive and Peloquin ATB diff.

I'm not running a VR6 at the moment.

Do you have a general figure for the cost of buying a vr6 and associated components and getting it set-up in the car, with and without a garage labour charge

Darkangel. You can pick up converstions from brakers from around 800 to 1300 dependin on spec and car its from but thats for the complete everything from engine to subfaces gearbox driveshafts everything you need basicly.

if you want it fitted i think you are looking at 2500+ including engine and everything.
