Sorry to bring this back, but has anyone tried this with a 1.8t?
I was thinking that it would be very handy for keeping the sensors and throttle body clean

A modern engine shouldn't coke up as much as older ones, but it wouldn't do any harm.

The water won't evaporate till it hits a hot cylinder, so it won't do anything to the TB and sensors.

Not something I've ever done myself but I've seen people do similar things. I once saw someone put cleaner like ajax into oil to make some rings bed in that wouldn't, that worked too. Odd.

I was thinking that the alcohol would look after the cleaning of everything from the TIP to the inlets?
How heavy could you go with the alcohol content, and could this process damage the turbo seals?

Done mine today, nice smelly thick white smoke pouring out of the exhaust. N-oo-ii-ce Hehe. Sounded like a diesel until it cleared it all out. Polished of a pint of water in under a minute!

Trace the vacuum line from the inlet manifold (I assume it has one!) and find somewhere you can disconnect. Just make sure there are no silly one way check valves between you an the inlet manifold :)
