Any mk4 tdi gearbox flanges will work. One centre bolt to undo and swop them over. I was going to do this on a R32 02M box. 6 speed. But got the 02A diff so didnt bother. Good stuff mate!!

Hi bud changed the gearbox flanges to tdi ones!! as you can see in later posts looks like they are from the mk4 tdi. cheers bud:thumbup:

also vr6 starter went straight in... i think there could be various different v5 boxes could be different slightly not 100% but to be sure i got the 170bhp box.

will give any info anywhere i can... just ask.

50?? coz ur from darn south!! lols only kiddn i musta got a bargain then.

now you know there off a mk4 tdi you can have a look round for some cheap ones!

    Cheers for the info...

I've picked up the V5 box and V5 starter just in case and managed to get a set of 100mm flanges posted to me but turned out to be 110mm so no good and holding up things now..[:^(]

Hopefully should have some 100mm ones very soon and then its all go:thumbup:

Just to bring this back to life...

I've fitted my v5 box now and as said its as good as bolt on conversion but one thing I did notice was the VR6 starter motor had 10 teeth and the v5 one had 9 teeth so I've opted to use the vr6 starter over the v5 one because I'm not sure what would happen.

Because I've use the vr6 starter motor I had to redill the bottom bolt hole for a larger bolt as the v5 gearbox uses larger starter bolts over the vr6.

I've only done 5 miles in it so far so don't know the benifits just yet but I will say it feels 100% better shifting wise but I have also done the o2J shifter tower conversion.

    Jay :)

Does anyone know anything regarding V5 box ratios? Do they all have a 3.9fd? Are some more suited than others? I have seen an EBS model at a good price which I am interested in.

sorry I meant to get back to you via pm but forgot! here are the codes you were looking for:
    EBS:
    Final drive - 71/18 = 3.94
    1 - 33/10 = 3.3
    2 - 35/18 = 1.94
    3 - 34/26 = 1.31
    4 - 35/34 = 1.03
    5 - 36/43 = 0.84

ive fitted mine now and its great. seems that any 100mm mk4 gearbox cups fit aslong as its got the little bolt in the middle.

What im most impressed with is the gearchange. so much smoother and direct. quicker 2:)

    Its defo quicker aswell

the only thing im gutted about is it hits the rev limiter in 5th at 120mph. might get a remap to so i can rev higher

I think if you use a a mk3 tdi 5th gear, you'll should still be able to do 150mph

What was the part number for the cups mate?

So with the 100mm flages (the inner CV bolts to them?) you can use the VR6 driveshafts/CV's?
