Ha ha,i like the mint inner wing jibe!!lol

Anyway lads,i`v never been aone for quiting very often so i am going to rebuild the shell....yes rebuild it.

The car has such a lot of history, has a sweet as ***k engine and gearboxand only let me down once which was more a part of the previous owners neglect.

The car was owned by a lady in Kent for years who really did`nt look after it plus some very shoddy workmanship over the years.

The floor damage has come from the windscreen not been fitted properly plus both scuttle plates underneath have holes in so let in copious amounts of water hence the rotten floor pan!!

Having been a classic car nut for wellover 20 years i have seen much much worse cars brought back from the dead and i have no intention of scrapping it!!!

As i rebuild her i will post piccies to keep all you Mk1 fans updated!!

Just what I was thinking - I've seen much worse that's been saved. If
you're willing to put the effort in you can do it.

Forgot i had`nt said what colour etc it is.

Its a Black 1.6 on a Y plate, done just over 150,000 miles and runs sweet as a nut but i dont really need the engine as i can just FRED FLINTSTONE it down the road as its got so many holes in the floor!lol

I also have a 1.8 which is on this forum but to be honest i much prefer the 1.6,it delivers the power much more smoothly and is an all round nicer drive for me IMO.

Am just sorcing some inner wings plus the rest of the repair panels and once i have them sorted i will begin the resurrection!!

Will keep you all picture posted :)

    No way,thats just being lazy.

The car is totally solid at the back end aprt from one small hole in the rear valance so putting new inner wings/floor etc is not a big problem.

My friend totalled his RS 2000 mk2 some years ago and i mean totalled it and when they had finished putting it back together it looked like it was brand new from the factory!

    Scrap it.

    HELL NO !!

My car only cost me 600 tax and m.o.t`ed,it earned me a lot of money taking me to work etcso i cant grumble.

Restoring it will be fun and above all fun.

Yes after inspecting the rear end (ooer missus)i thought the car is definately worth saving.

It is going to take a lot of time and money but i feel its worth it and i love a challenge me!

I will be able to respray the car inside and out myself so that will save me a fortune too so its only the welding that will cost a bit :)
