What's best - MK4 1.8T GTi or MK4 2.0 GTi????

Can anyone tell me which is best for power, speed etc?

 

1.8 20vt.... no doubt about it at all.

has someone told you the 2.0 is good? lol

its a fat lardy cruiser and takes about 3 days to get to do 0-60

2.0 was made to sell numbers on fleet lists imo, nothing about the heritage of the GTi...

It has lots of stick on goodies and bigger wheels. In essence, cosmetic changes.

 

Lowered a bit more as well Seraph.

Oh, and the 180bhp 20VT. Admitedly some normal ones had it as well. But all 25th's did.

And on topic, the 2.0 is just a no.

 

18turbo all the way. I tryed the 2ltr and it was'nt a goer.
With a turbo you can tune it a lot easier and the fact there are so many tuners out there we're spoilt for choice.

My tip is drive them both and check out what you want out of a car ,also the insurance ,because that's a big factor nowadays.

20vt gets killed by abfs, 2.0 8v wont even see which way the abf went, so if you want to be as fast as a pretty slow mk3, get the 20vt and remap it

 

I've got a 2.0 (GTI?) for a run around. Had it for a couple of a couple of years and it is terrbible. It has destroyed my soul. For yor own sake DO NOT BUY ONE.
I'm in the process of switching to a Corrado to lift my spirits.

 

Might be psychologically beneficially for you to put a 1.6 badge on the back to alleviate your pain!
