Nothing! i pick a lens b4 i go and hang the camera around my neck the whole time, with UV filter, without lens cap. Which is maybe why i've managed to get 9,500 shots on my hard drive in 2009, by my standards that probably means 30,000 to 40,000 clicks on the camera:lol:

    Nikon D300
    50mm Nikon prime lens
    55-200mm telephoto
    old Nikon 135mm macro
    Nikon s600 flash
s/h Manfrotti tripod (weighs about half a ton, but steady as a rock)
two heads for above (also very heavy!)
    Manfrotti monopod
    Lowepro bag
some filters (if only I could remember where I put them!)
some bean-bag things that all velcro together, for putting camera on, or kneeling on
PS CS4 and PS Elements 7

share some cheapo studio lights and Lastolite backdrop with a friend (who lives 20miles away and who's always got them when I want them or vice-versa)

Would like some decent lenses now, but unfortunately don't have hundreds/thousands to spare

Mark - I tend to do that - take what I want out of my backpack and put them in my camera bag, but then always find that I've not got what I want.

However, I've also got a brilliant Barbour coat (meant for hunting/shooting) but it has zilliions of big waterproof pockets inside and out (meant for carrying cartridges/dead pheasants/hares) but are brilliant for carrying camera gear. I'm sorry I can't use it in the summer, too. For summer, I have a Nikon bodywarmer thing, but it's not half as good and I always feel like a poser in it!

Wow you guys carry some stuff around!

Most of the time it's just the body and a short, if I'm going somewhere that specifically needs a long I MIGHT throw the short in my pocket ;) .... Oh an usually an ND grad (in a pocket)

Having said that, the 35mm has not come off for about 5 weeks

    Canon 450D
    Canon EFS 18-55mm kit lens
    70-300mm Tamron Telemacro
Polarisers for each lens (58mm and 62mm)
    Various filters and grads
    2 and 4GB cards.
National PE-182S flash (Ancient; was my Dads, and is designed to fit on and be fired by old-school SLRs, but I use it as a handheld.)

    Over the shoulder;

An equally ancient, but superb, Velbon tripod.

    On the `pooter;

    PS7 and PSElements

Ok... I shall allow myself to be drawn into your virtual c*ck measuring contest :p

My Lowepro Rover AW usually contains the following:

    Canon 40D

    Canon EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5
    Canon EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS
    Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8

    Canon EF 35mm f/2.0
    Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 Mk1
    Canon EF 135mm f/2.8

Sigma APO Macro 400mm f/5.6 (usually stays at home and only comes out for special occasions)

    Canon 580EX II Flash

A couple of Sandisk Ex. III 8Gb Cards
    A couple of Canon batteries

Manfrotto 785 Tripod (meant for compacts but very small and light and just about does the job most of the time).

Images are crudely bodged with the Canon software and Photoshop CS2.

I'm generally happy with the gear and hoping it'll last me for a long time, although I do hanker for a 5D II. Could also do with a polarising filter, UV filters for all the lenses, few ND grads, a cable release and some gels for the flash really. Would also like to build a light beam trigger for the camera / flash, but my cat has more skill with electronics than I do.

Now, if I could just find something interesting to shoot...

So what was i taking then and what now. I think this is the most important part of the thread.!

I have to be honest here, the only reason i took up photography again was a kitten. I never had any decent photos of her and after 6 months she died. Then we brought 2 other kittens into our lives . It was very hard to start with not knowing how long we would have them with us. But thank god they are now getting close to 2 years old and a very close part of my life. So i thought it would be appropriate to show this here.

Chloe who loved me so much and died not long after she arrived

And Dacery He is always happy to sit there and let me play with my DOF.

    .

    Thanks

    Cracking portrait, Stu :)

Pascal - I love your kitten/cat. Are they colourpoints or Birmans? The little bluepoint is a lovely kitten and the sealpoint has super eye-colour (one of the most difficult things to breed true in the himalayan breeds).

I used to breed and show colourpoints and in the early days, bred some of the first shorthair colourpoints. These are some (very old) pics of some of mine:

    Roland (longhair stud cat)

    Mimi - longhaired c/p
