Where to get a ploice scanner?

    yeh i can get mobiles and BT cordless phones still.

    Its mad... i can get baby speaker things so i can listen to people in their house. i draw the line there cos thats sick. [xx(]

    i hade a pro 26 scanner then they gone digital then i sold mine was thinking of getting anorther one like to listear to the old bill and phones dont no what sort to get though anyidears [:^(]

    a lot of the old bill are going digital but the pursuit channels will remain anolog (imagine trying to relay live chase details through your mobile phone in an area of bad reception ! )
    get the small alinco or eaven better the ICON ic 10
    eaven smaller with more features

    Then you've got worse laws - over here you can listen all you want (as if you could!) but you're not allowed to tell anyone or do anything about it......

    I remeber one my mate had, you could listen to peoples phone calls and stuff. I don't have a clue what it was.

    the computer speakers at home do weird things [:s]
    we get the police car talk as they come by from the vilage cop shop [:s] :lol:

    and the radios in the police cars are left in and on in the cars over night at the village cop shop, so if you were that interested you could sit next to the car and listen.....

    As well as it being illegal to actually listen to police and other services, it is also illegal to even listen to Marine broadcasts - unless you are at sea.

    There was a news story about a guy who listened to boats talking to each other on his scanner, whilst at home. He heard a distress call one day, to which nobody responded. So he reported this to the services and (if I remember right) the boat was actually rescued thanks to him.

    They then proceeded to prosecute him for listening to marine broadcasts with his scanner. Well I don't know if it got as far as him being fined, but he got a bollocking for it.

    You used to be able to pick up analogue mobile phone calls.

    Very interesting.
