??? Maybe a daft question but:

Do i use a flywheel suitable for the engine, the box or sonmething else?

Which should i use on a 20vt thats having a mk3 16v box on? And what code is the mk3 16v box?

Go for a flywheel to match the box, I used a G60 box, hence the G60 flywheel.

Also, a bit of advice, have the box looked at/reconditioned before fitting it, I know this will add a few to the conversion but trust me, it'll save you a few later if the box decides to let go.

Those boxes were never designed to have 300 lb/ft torque going through them so if they're not in good condition then they'll give it up.

I had mine rebuilt and the Quaiffe installed by Vince @ Stealth and it's been mint.

Just a bit of advice as I've seen a few boxes fail.

Any cable change box - but use a flywheel that takes a 228mm clutch (vr6) if you dont get it lightened.

All the cable change flywheels can be machined to take 228mm clutchs during lightening.

Youl want to be usin a VR6 clutch, as its the strongest standard cable change box clutch.

You use the flywheel associated with the gearbox you choose. If you're gonna se an 02A box and the 9A used an 02A box then it should be OK.

Oh, and I always thought that it wasn't advised to lighten an OE flywheel cos they are cast?

Lighteneing isnt a problem provided it is done by someone experienced so that it maintains it strength, or so i am led to believe anyway. :)

If you're looking at running over 250bhp then a VR6 clutch won't last long, go for something with bigger bollox like a Helix.

At the moment i'm thinking of a 200bhp AGU with the QPE or maybe a BAM 225bhp running standard management.

(probably the first one for ease of fitment)

    The 9A flywheel Ian's bought off me has a 228mm clutch. It's from a
Passat engine but I don't see why that'd be any different to the Corrado
    engine/clutch.

I had mine done last week by hotgolf. - It's lost half it's weight and cost 75. All balanced up with the pressure plate too. It's a MK3 16V flywheel I'll be using for my 20VT conversion. :)

The best things about the 02A box is they're strong, and it has the same ratios as the boxes found on 5 speed 1.8T engines - therefore allowing good 0-60mph times as you can reach 60 in second gear.

I'm using a G60 Sachs power clutch bought from GSF for 180ish. If it dies then I'll probably go for a Helix, but it should be ok.

I've got a peloquin ATB diff fitted aswell - will let you know how I get on with the whole setup. :)
