wooh the info king is here. :p

Ive thrown up some old graphs for referance but more torque mor power and more revs are on the way. Its a solid lifter head and the charger pulley is 69.1mm so we'll prob rev it to around 7500.

This is an 8v. Very nice! Your peak torque is from around 3800 revs to 5300 is that right. This thing is pulling like a valver! Looks like the charger is running out of steam as the VE dips for some reason afterward. This area is where you want your revs to drop to when you shift as this is where you get maximun shove. Use the gearbox data to work out speed in gears and max/min rpm for shift points then reference your torque curve bearing in mind that the hardest shove you will get is around 3800-5300revs. If you rev the engine too much and your ratios are too close you will fall too much right of this area. Ideally you want to be hitting max BHP rpm at the end of the 1/4 mile. But this may not be possible without making a custom 3rd gear.

    Yep 8V

Max power at 6708 rpm (still making power as revs were climing)
Max torque at 4445 rpm 235lbs.
    Over 220lbs from 3350 to 6200

The drop at around 5300 was wheel spin.

Dazza, is that the old silver mk1? edit - just seen other thread.

If sticking with 020 look at a mk3 8V GTI box, DFQ? code, ratios are all longer than a 2y but still has a 3.6 FD

yea thats the one, im going cable change due to clutches being way too expensive for the rod boxes

Was looking at either vr internals or mk3 16v box code DPA (not cda) or a mix and match of what ever works best.

Cheers for the link. I think the best thing is to get it fully mapped again, do the head and other bits and see where the peak power and torque is, i know the car wil make pooh loads more torque as it was mapped for low torque.

Paid 50 quid for the DPA code box, result!

Just looking at the book of lies and it states for CDA/CGN box

    3.300 1st
    1.944 2nd
    1.308 3rd
    1.029 4th
    0.837 5th

    3.684 final....

    2Y 'v' CDA with a 7000RPM.

    1st - 38 - 37 mph
    2nd - 60 - 66
    3rd - 89 - 98
    4th - 113 - 124

LOL, ive just tryed some ratios with a FD of 3.158. [:$] was ok till i got 174 in 4th at 7000

3.3 might not be too bad for me with the right gears. (fooks off to garys site)

    *EDIT* no good!

Any box got a 3.5 FD?

One thing I will say, the speeds that site spews out matches indicated speedo speeds on my mk2 16v, which are 5-7mph out at most speeds according to the Road Angel.

Kool, thanks for that, ill have to dig out a load of ratios for corrados/passats/golfs 02a for referance and FD.

Most of the sites ive found are for 020.
