Theres a house I go past in South Birmingham, and it always seems to have rare things like this on the drive, countrys, rallyes, etc. Always wondered if it was someone on here.
^^^8k?!!! Yikes, presume that's for the chrome edition? I see these go for around 3-5000 euros in the local freeads. Might be worth my while exporting some to the UK. Not so keen on the way they're raised though, by mounting the whole thing on a subframe. Still must be pretty capable off-road if the bog-standard syncro is anything to go by.
Yes Phatty had a Metallic Blue one on LPG all LHD. i think about 5000 were made. 200 of the Chrome Edition ones were made. Chrome Edition Wheels ! Yum Yum
there were about 550 Chrome versions made and 2 different sets of the Calmaster wheels- like Brookster above with fake bolts and like my old ones. The first Chromes were sold with Le Castelett wheels. The regular Country's were sold with Speedlines
interesting thing is i've never seen any other sets with the allen studs, the studs were originally plastic allen studs screwed in as standard by VW. but when i had them powder coated i changed them to steel.
just browsing youtube and i think this is taking the off-road Golf thing pretty damn far! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JEDUh2XMM8&feature=related
heres some long overdue pics Not the best comparison as the driveway slopes The rear mechanism is made up from a Golf rear hatch strut, a rear lock and a door strike pin and of course all the custom framework A few pics of how a Golf Syncro CL becomes a Country
A couple of pics of the one at the autostat in wolfsburg... I went over a few years ago, would definitely recommend it Cars are pretty tight in there, so underneath pics are hard to do unless you've got a really good cam!!
Its always been a place that Id like to go to too Ive just had the original wheels refurbished (BTW Id recommend Gareth at Wheelshine http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2022867#post2022867 ) Ill get some better sunny day pics later
Hey there bones nice to see H117 AGF again was the first country i bought must be about 4-5 years ago i think, decided after that to get a chrome edition so went to germany for one still got that coming up 4 years now.when i registered it checked dvla registrations and found reg no. H1 4 A VW suits it nicely. Also found another chrome edition on ebay last year at a good price so bought that and after a couple of months sold it on.have been to a 4x4 meet near me and taken round the track done pretty well, will try to get photos up or can email if you want, THESE CARS ARE LIKE MARMITE(YOU EITHER LOVE EM OR HATE EM) hope to see you at some of the shows this year
nice to meet a previous owner. The chap I bought this off lavished lots of attention on, but the TSR engine going after only 600 miles ended that love affair- crappy quality piston. If you have any pics of it before, or any pics of your other, ill be very interested. The weird thing is that i always wanted an offroad golf before i even knew this existed. A mate once sketched up his interpretation, although he had a Mk1 in his head
I had a bright blue metallic one just over a year ago, imported it myself, it was nice and standard with pb lump. Ran it for 6 months, played with it in the snow and sold it to a guy down south, will dig some pics out, my mate also has a L reg G60 chrome edition, we think it's factory original as a few were made very late on apparently, he also has another chrome that was rotten that's being transplanted to a MK3 tdi setup just to be different.
It`s the first time I`ve seen those pics of the underside. Question?; Are they really just a `body-lift` then, with all the mechanicals/running gear at normal height?
yes its a bodylift really by the looks of it. You could get away with a non-syncro shell i believe love to see some pics the bbm seems to be pretty popular but it does look good!
