Phew thanks for the vote of confidence 1990, I wasn't sure about going black but thought go for it!

I'ved had (VW, golf) as a favourite search on ebay for quite a while checking now and then, these are just down the road from me! I checked the price of the tyres before i bought and came up with 125 per tyre from online places! [:D]

These were my back up plan until i realized they were only 17"...

Would take a bit more work getting that chrome effect off though.

I dont like the sound of normal shiny black , so matt black will stand out from the car nicely I think.

I'm only doing it DIY so if I really dont like it I can always re spray.

you sure they are genuine VW wheels? The lacquer shouldnt crack off like that due to water getting in if they were genuine VW. they should last years before anything like that happens!

What spray you using to do them yourself, you'll need a real thick coating of lacquer on too to stop anything like that happening again.

    Should look mint though.

Loving the white too, you got any more pics yet?

Yep I know i need a new sig....I did ask for one in the PhotoShop bit, I'm useless with it.

Picked the wheels up and sure are in a bad state, no kurbing damage though.

I would love to go polished rim with black spokes but I can't afford them kinda wheels and I dont think these could pull off that effect.

I'ved bought couple of cans of Halfords grey primer and halfords matt black, being matt finish I wont be using laquer.

As far as i know there genuine, the centre caps certainly dont have the look or feel of a cheap copy.

    Pics are coming...

    Ya mean like this....[:D]

so after a quick shampoo it reveals just how much dodgy lacquer there is..

mmmm shiny, almost tempting to restore them back to this.....but no!

any know some short cuts to getting them back to metal? Would nitromors work on them?

    nice! thats a flippin bargain!
as stated before, im not sure about matt black. but like the pic that sereph came up with, that would look sweeet.
and the laquer coming off is common im affraid. it happened to my mates anni, luckily VW paid them to be re-finished. so it might be an idea to take em to vw first, they prob wont cover the whole price, but they may pay towards it. never know!

keep the pics coming! lucky b.... :p
