I went to a friends farm, he has a drive way thats huge! straight and flat. that was begging for a 0-60 time.

i only did one attempt becuase i dont like raggin the old girl
it was atually the first time i'd taken it up to redline. lol

i managed 0-60 in 7.8 secs, i dont know if this is good or bad for a standard 8v??

i know some of you have bee to santa pod and the likes so thought this thread might be good just to see what other people are acheieving!

thats probably not too bad for an 8v.

i never bothered to time my valver - not driven it for about 6 months now.

    How did you time it?

Usual mobile phone stop watch against a speedo or something more sophisticated like gps?

If true, not a bad time at all

6.4 was a figure I got off gtech for my 2.0 16v mk2. It never ran as fast as it should though!

2.5krpm is prolly about right. i looked at loads of gtech plots and it didnt seem to matter what revs you launched at (within reason) but with more revs you had more chance of flaring up with wheel spin which makes a GWD car even gayer

I managed a just under 11 second 0-60 according to my Race Technology box.

    In the 406 HDi.

And that was after it had been chipped. [:x]

Definately need to get my MK2 back on the road.

Mid to late 5's according to GPS stuff used in the past and at Inters a few times with both the 1.8 & 2.0 16v's I've had in the mk1s.

The Mk2 speedo is out enough for your time to be really out. Keep going to 70 to get a more accurate time or use a GPS speedo.

My times at santa pod equate to a 6.2 0-60 in my Mk2 2.0 16v, so add a bit to that for a normal (poorer) road surface.

copeidge Ben S is right you need to give the old girl a good rag from time to time ones twice a week red line is a good thing gets rid of all the crap in the engine and lets the old girl stretch her legs.
i remember when i took my mates mk2 8v out he only ever took it up to 60 so i took it out warmed it up and red lined it in 2nd gear the stuff that cam out of the car had to been seen it was wrong but now the old girl runs sweet, just make shore its warm first

Indicated 65 on the speedo will be about 60 on the road. Your probably around 9ish seconds to a real 60mph which sounds about right for the good old mk2 8v.

yep i drive sensible but i do "drive" the car as in i dont sit a 20mph in 5 gear labouring the engine, i give it the beans quite regular but never quite up to the redline as all the torque is a bit lower.
