Hi, it's me! I'm Gurds, live in Hayes and have lived in West London all my life. Always loved cars and wanted a S1 Escort Turbo before I could drive. When I was old enough (and after an escort combi van & an orion injection ghia) my dad says 'If your gonna buy a hot hatch buy a proper one!' So I got a mk2 gti!! That was it! Hooked and have driven dubs since. Used to post a lot on PVW but now find myself stuck on this forum. I am on my forth dub and second mk1 all of which have been on the gti breed. [:D]

Damien, Born in Southend, Essex on 28th Dec 1979, lived in Southend until i was 12 then moved to Benfleet which is a few miles down the road.

Did ok at school which was an achievement as i really lost interested in it in the last 2 (the most important!!) year. Went to college and spent 2 years on a GNVQ General Engineering course which was w@nk the i got a job at a sheet metal factory as a general dogs body. Spent a year there then by chance i got an apprenticeship from BT though my uncle. Been here for 5 years now and this is w@nk too tbh but it pays a good wage so no plans to change at the moment.

I had a difficult childhood for various reasons but mostly due to my parents splitting when i was young which has caused me problems, not because they split but because of there general selfishness and attitude. Get on ok with my Dad now (Helps that he is a car mechanic with his own business) though we arent cl,ose really but fell out with my Mum 18months ago and spent a year not speaking to her. We have straightened things out now but are not close either......

Been living at my g/f's Dad's house sinse the falling out with my Mum, the whole thing has had a bad effect on our relationship and its only a matter of time now before we split and im homeless again.....

Got in to dubs in 2001 after my Dad suggested getting a MK2 8v GTI instead of the Pug 205 GTI which i was looking at. Wasnt sure at first as i though the Golf would cost more to run and insurance would be higher but once i looked in to it i changed my mind and brought the Oakey in my sig. I originally started on PVW as i was after help with getting some problems i was having with the Golf straightened out and moved over to here when this forum first started. Since then i have been involved in getting Junction 29 set up and have virtually rebuilt my Golf.

After all the poo i've had going on over the last couple of years teh one thing i think that has helped me is getting stuck in on the Golf and the friends ive made within the scene, if i didnt have that i think i would have gone mad.......

EDIT: Just re-read this and it sound well depressing, sorry!! Didnt mean for it to read like that.....

    Vick from Hayes.

21 years old and going into my final year at uni. I was never really into cars until I passed my test, drove a mates 180 bhp Mk2 16v and I was hooked. The only car I remember liking as a youngster was the Mk1 Golf! So I had to have one.

Over the last 4 years or so I have gathered a lot of PA equipment and now hire it out to Dj's and setup for functions.

I'm Claire, born 8th June 1978 in Worcester where I have lived ever since apart from 3 years at Uni (more of that in a bit).

Always been interested in cars since I was fairly young, loved helping my dad wash his on a Sunday and was a number-plate spotter from the back seat. Was also quite happy playing with my set of cars as much as my dolls - was quite a tomboy as a kid and loved being outside.

My main hobby though was swimming and I reached county level in my late teens. From the age of 11 I got into Lifesaving where I travelled the country for competitions and represented the West Midlands. Whilst I was at Sixth Form and in my uni holidays I worked as a lifeguard and one summer was spent at a Pontins holiday camp and got paid for sitting out in the sun. [8D]

Managed to get 8 GCSE's and 3 A-Levels in completely unrelated subjects (Maths, German & PE) - I just studied them because I liked the subject and not because I needed them! Went to the University of Durham and graduated in 1999 with a degree in Medical Anthropology. Didn't really enjoy the course because it was not what I thought, but stuck with it and got a 2:1 Honours degree at the end of it. [:D]

Since the age of about 15 I decided that I wanted to be a Paramedic, but couldn't apply until I was 21 which is why I went to uni to pass time until I was the right age. Whilst at uni I got done for speeding in my Nova which was unfortunate because I needed a clean licence to join the Ambulance Service. So after graduating I got a job in the Operating Theatres at Worcester Royal Infirmary until the points came off my licence.

I got into the Ambulance Service with my first application and 4 years on I still love my job, although I hate the crap that goes with it like the Saturday night rubbish we have to pick up, getting abuse, not having enough crews (Worcester has a population over over 100k and only has 2 ambulances!) etc.

I got into the Dub scene about 2 1/2 years ago when I found the forum via Google when I was looking up info on my Mk 3 16v. I spent time on the forum before going to shows from November 2002. My car can often be seen on the Club GTI Worcestershire display.

My need for speed saw me selling the Mk 3 in March this year and I replaced it with an R32 which has been the best buy ever. I'm starting to get into trackdays now too, although the R32 hasn't made a break onto the track yet and I'm GVK's co-pilot (we met at a RR day in April 2003 and have been together ever since despite there being 140 miles between us). A recent trip to the Nurburgring in Germany has got me hooked now, so you might see me out on track more often in the future!

So that's me. Sorry for the waffle [:$]

Stuart, 32, from Clydebank near Glasgow.
    Brief life history so far:-
Worked in licensed trade for about 5 years when I left school. Ran bars and clubs in Glasgow & London. Lived in London 1993-1998.
Changed into the Call Centre industry when I came back to live in Glasgow. Have worked for NTL, CAPITA, and now working for Barclays stockbrokers in Glasgow as a Senior Planner.

Married, 9 months old son MAX, got into VWs as a few of my mates are into AIR COOLED.

Got a new MK4 at the end of last year (family car) and recently sold my MK2 gti to DarrynK a few months ago (still miss it). Have spread the VW bug by getting my dad to buy a new POLO, my brother-in-law a new PASSAT and recruiting new converts to the cult by the week.

Andrew, 23 from Orkney - claim to fame, pretty much always the most notherly memeber on any forum board :p

Did school n all that, did well, darnk a hell of a lot etc etc, got into Strathclyde Uni in Glasgow for 5 years to do a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Graduated this Year, chuffed [:D]

Since then done nothing - jus worked flat out up at the workshop on the cars. Need to get a real job sometime, but not sure what i wanna do. Certainly not cars, as thats my hobby and i reckon if i worked with or on them i would end up hating it. The oil industry working abroad is the ultimate aim.

    And so to the VW's - always been into VW's, old man had owne 2 MK1's, 5 MK2 gti's,, MK3 GTI, MK3 GTI, 2 Scirocco's and 2 Polo's - so it was pretty much decided that i woul dhave a VW :p

Bought my own first one in 2000, a Gplate 1.6 MK2 Driver with 69K on it - immacualte - modified it - it was crashed twice, second time prompted the huge rebuild into the silver one [:^(] that only managed about 5000 miles and about 6months on the road [:^(]

Bought a MK2 gti, gonna give that the same treatment, aswell as another 1.8 Driver that i have kickin about :)

Edit: Was on PVW about 4 years ago, came on here when that started to go downhill, as there were far more users to annoy on here ;)
