Thats the one!! I'll have it exactly like that but minus the air con so would need a shorter belt. I cant see what i've got anywhere. Also got my accelerator pedal today with the loom missing, gggrrrrrrr!!!
OK, i'm now swapping the bits to ready the engine for the mk2. I've swapped the engine wiring loom, injectors and fuel rail so far. I have a couple of questions: 1. Can I get rid of the secondary air control valve? Would I just blank off the holes? 2. Coolant temp sensors seem to be different, mk5 has 2wires, mk4 has 4 wires. I'll probably just havr to buy a mk4 one. 3. Whats the vacuum thing thats under the front of the inlet which lso connects to the gearbox side of the inlet manifold? 4. Is there anything else I can bin off?
Just reading in, as I've never done the conversion or really looked too in depth at it my advice may not be quite 100% accurate but it may help you out somwhat. 1- Should imagine you will need the secondary air control valve to be coded out after blanking it off, its used to bring the cat upto temperature faster to comply with emissions regs 2- Coolant sensors, mk4 sensor has wiring to both the dash and the engine ecu hence the 4 pins, think as the mk5 is data linked thats why it only reqs the two wires. 3- Don't know 4- Don't know
the SAI can just be binned without doign any codes or resistors. worst thing u get is a fault code about it but it wont put the car into limp or anything so no need to worry.
Cheers, I hope it fits OK. Super!! Can I remove the thing under the throttle body (stick it on e-bay) and simply make a plate to blank it off?
it could be relocated if needed the 4motion has the valves on the side of the engine and some have a round vac tank a bit like the ones you see small engine mk2's part 27 and 17 do the same job early 4motion r32
aye, can remove all the relay and associated wiring too. just tape up the end of the sai relay trigger wire from the ecu in the loom neatly and away you go
you will still need to get the SAI decoded out of the ecu if you are planning on deleting it from what i have read on vortex and several other sites
hmm must be different to 1.8t then as there are several on here who have done the same. as i say you will get a code for it in the ecu but it doesnt effect the power output
Andy now has my looms and ECU. I've sold my VR6 engine and am having the day off on tuesday to take it out.
I now just need the mk4 temp sensor and mk4 4motion pas pully. Since my last post i've sent my flywheel to Hotgolf, got a new clutch, new tensioner, non aircon belt and lemforder R32 wishbone bushes. Is the pas pully defintely different to the VR6 one?
Could anyone help me with a few part numbers? I've searched the online ekta but cant find the following, I must be missing them with the russian translation: VR6 or R32 flywheel bolts VR6 cluch to flywheel bolts V6 4Motion PAS pully Mk5 R32 manifold to downpipe gaskets Thanks in advance.
VR6 or R32 flywheel bolts vr6= N 90539801 (M10X1X19X11) r32=N 90929401 (m10x1x27) VR6 cluch to flywheel bolts N 10101001 V6 4Motion PAS pully i cant see a number for it will have a look later Mk5 R32 manifold to downpipe gaskets 3D0253115E
Cheers, much appreciated!! Which section did you find the numbers in? Also which flywheel bolts should I use?
I would take a guess at you need to use the flywheel bolts to match the flywheel you are using. The bolt lengths differ so there could be different thicknesses of the flywheel mounting
yes you do need to use vr6 12v flywheel bolts also sorry to thread jack but has any got the part no. for the head to exhaust manifold gasket
