    2012 Updates.

Since the last 6 months this car was used very rarely.
Over the Christmas holidays, I decided to do some benchmarking for updates that are starting to commence this year.

So the dust was washed off again and I commenced to get it checked out by both

    him...

    and later by them...

With nothing untoward to see the car was used as a regular road car performing daily grocery getting duties...

Then it appears I was good and Santa had left a parcel...

So the guys at Garage Streamline opened up the garage I fitted them.

    This is just the beginning.

Some other bits have been turning up and these would be fitted soon and then I will have more to report.

2012 looks to be an interesting and exciting year for the WOLF R.

If I achieve my last task for this car in its current spec, would I get bored and "improve" the engine to 450PS :o...Time would tell.

I and bored right now :p:lol:. The dyno boys have a certain turbonectics hybrid that...:)

Anyway I will stick to glorious 8v fuel economy [:D]

Nice coilies Eddie, tip from the Jap side was it? Don't think I've seen them on a VW before. 400+ through the front wheels should be interesting.

I'm curious if the engine will handle 400+PS on the stacked gasket setup, interested to watch.

You will need to define "limit" ;)...

By limit I ment flow of the head as well as standard bottom end strength . What hp and torque would you expect it to take?

I am happy with it in its current spec, for what it is, some 12000miles or so since it was first built.
You could always force more flow through the std head/cams with more boost pressure and more efficient turbocharger.
If the extra flow of fuel-air mix does get trapped in the cylinder then my set up would be limited by the maximum cylinder pressure and revs the engine would safely sustain. In my opinion, these limits have not been breached as I know and monitor certain engines that have been run up to 500PS ( significantly more cylinder pressure than I dare) on the OE pistons and stacked gaskets.
What I do know is at 330PS, my engine is not happy for a number of reasons that does not include it's standard base engine format. As a result it was turned down to achieve 315PS@6400rpm or so and 300lbft @ around 4500 rpm.
As my build consists of mostly std parts from various parts searches and lots of thought to present what you see, to move further, in a direction I would be happy with and without issue hardware changes would be required.

Work done with 500 and 800PS JDM vehicles does have an influence to where this project will end up in terms of engine output ultimately. But as a budget DIY project, it is a good reference of what can be achieved from std hardware if you put thought into it.

For now it is all about more grip with the same power level.
More power is not a problem for now.

I've loved hot cars and owned a few over the years but i've never really read much about the fine detail of tuning that you write about in your threads.
Maybe I'm taking more interest in my old age?? :)

I've fitted wishbones and exhausts and discs etc but the most i've done to an engine is change the pulley on my old G60 and swap the 'chip' over. That put a smile on my face :)

It's great to see someone develop an engine. To see the effect of each modification.
It probably helps to have a garage to do all this stuff:thumbup:
