I am more concerned about the suspension than the diff on this thing. As you can see everything is done step by step with full justification why a component is to be used or updated.
Car is 1 of 5 VWs that is owned by the household. So mileage gets evenly distributed. No issues with tyres ( There is a spare set of R888s for drag racing), although in the suspension update the front ones will be swapped to the back for a more grippy road set.

I have just read this thread from start 2 finish and I have 2 say you have some great talent with megasquirt.

I am building a 9a 16v turbo at the moment and all I can say its not a simple task, But really worth it.

Any chance you can Pm a price on modding a megasquirt version 1 loom for plug and play fitting on the 9A? I have the loom for the megasquirt already but im not very good with electrical sides of things.

if you have the loom for ms then ditch kjet loom, except for hall sender and ignition amp/coil, its not to bad wiring the loom ,in, i just had probs with the ignition amp and hall sender but that was me wiring it wrong, i dont have any k-jet loom left except for the said items, the ms loom had all the names of sensers stamped on the wires,so wiring that was peace of ****

Great thread just read from start to finish and amazing to see the progress although sure a lot more has gone on behind the scenes.

Quick question with boost controllers. Am I better off running a lower external wastegate spring and an electronic boost controller to aid spool or just running my target boost spring. In your experience how much earlyer spool can be achieved?

    Great reading:thumbup:

I love the way you approach a project, and fully document and explain progress and findings. Although you do make it sound very easy.

Any changes planned in the future?

Dusting off this thread and the car.

Well I though it was time to give this thread a bit of a refresh and dust off.

Der WOLF R has been hibernating in its cove for the past few months.

Recently, as it's MOT was due, I took Toyotec-san to undust it, bling it up and carry out some remedial works, before a new test ticket could be issued.

    After a wash

Once finished with the undusting process my "small Toyotecwerke" inspected and gave it the thumbs up and it was ready to head to the MOT centre.

He is already sold on the number of valveage as you can see.

as well as trialling faster toys:o

We will try to keep focused on 4 for now.

So off the car went to Yassh motors for it's MOT test.

As with all things car, nothing obeys a plan [:s]

The turbo car decided it was time to lubricate the exhaust system slightly, so off it came to be taken to the specialists.

The guys at Turbo Developments demonstrated that there was a small amount of end float which caused the light smoke. While the turbo is there the plan is to update the 270 turbo thrust bearing with a 360 job to increase robustness to this issue. Luckily it was caught in time and the damage is not major.

Hopefully The car should be reassembled on Friday then off to the coachwork guys for a bit of buff up on the paint work.

I am hoping this car to ready for GTi international 2011. Fingers crossed :)

did you have any oil seeping past the seals, at the cold side outlet or was it just the hotside/exhaust oulet ?, on inspection of mine,i have tiny movement but the guys at work saying its ok as its floating bearing or something, have no signs of oil seeping anyway

Hotside issue only. Usually will start smoking lightly after an extended idle, such as in very heavy traffic. My Huffer had excessive thrust in the judgement of the turbo guys, which they believed caused my issue.
We will see what happens and I am hoping for the best.

They are a good company. They give you all the info about he problem. I needed oversize piston ring seals as the housing was slightly worn.
