    Something to do with Kevlar

Here is a quote lifted from their website

"This is a Gates Racing Kevlar timing belt for the 06A late 1.8T engines. These belts are made from HNBR elastomeric composites, which make them 300% stronger than the OEM belts they replace. These belts also have three times the heat resistance of OEM belts. We recommend using these belts on high HP and high RPM engines."

Well finally found time to put this engine into my A3 :)

It is now running, very quiet and smooth, oil pressure is great and it never burnt any oil whatsoever from first start up which is unusual as it had every component brand new so i guess rings are as good as seated already

just need to mock up boost pipes once my new trhrottle body arrives and few other snags then run it in and remap, will update results once its done

I missed this for a reason.. Looks really nice. Good effort

Just a question and a note.

What do you mean exactly by this ^ ?

Note on the dirko stuff. You are supposed to draw a thin line in the middle of the contact surface and not apply by hand. Though i didn't ever have problems when applied with hand, which i did before learning this.

I ment bolts were torqued up and undone 3 times

If you are referring to applying assembly lube then i applied it all over bearing surfaces but thinly spread, cant see it beign a problem as excess has seaped out during tightening

Top work, Sam! Not sure the straights at Curby are long enough for it, but hope to see it there anyway!

Yes to achieve correct torque.. So, are you using a stretch gauge?

Not assembly lube, i'm taking about the dirko sealant stuff
