Nah mate same old story no one i knew saw it shame. Went out today and braved the cold stripped the front end off and the head ready for the new head rings and shells to go in. Just a few pics of the bores no damage was caused when it wasnt mapped and i thrashed it down the strip and curby peace of mind there. And just for you ian a bay shot for the calender do you think it will make the short list lol
only wiped them with wd40 and elbow grease for the photo mate got to remove them for the new rings im fitting
Feels like christmas day already more goodies arrived Nearly ready for the christmas rebuild Also a sneaky go-pro copy in the pic aswell
More things happening today a trip to bills and picked up my head now fully rebuilt and fitted with supertech valves and springs, when i got home i was greeted with my new converted loom so now got to get all of that fitted ive so much to work out as the loom was not labeled up when i bought it and need to buy the relevant sensors. Also while at bills i could not resist a new head gasket and ARP head bolt set and Phenolic inlet gasket set More to come over the holidays where hopefully ill get it finnished
Great stuff Nathan Have you pegged camshaft pulley to the crank? I think this is a must esp with uprated valve springs
No i haven't yet mate im going to now you have said is that on any build threads to show you how to do it
Dyno printout from bills its down on power due to back pressure so my exhaust is fubar ive been talking to different manufactures and i think im going to Pipe werx and get a custom 3" system made in the next few weeks ill post pics soon as now the car looks completely diferent from before .
After getting the the new exhaust done i then went to the CGTI rolling road day at ADE where i was only pulling around 308 bhp so booked it in for the following week as inters was only round the corner and i wanted it ready and these were the results i took it to inters when on the first run saturday morning i destroyed the clutch pressure plate Bummer! cheap techniclutch rubbish. i then went looking for the clutch the car needed i found through research that a company in america (clutch masters) made a single plate clutch capable of more than 500 ftlb of torque so with out haste i bought it, i quickly received it 4 days from america and fitted it ready for VW action i was up early and gunning to give the car a run down santa pod first run a respectable 13.6 with a missed gear change after an hour wait i was ready again aproached the start to do my burnout i gave it all in 1st changed to second to keep tyres spinning and nothing i lost 1st and 2nd gear i limped back to base thinking id slipped the gear linkages so locked the tower in place and shifter and set the linkages un locked them tried gears and still no gears so game over again
i did batter it a bit lol i think ive done somthing to the selector forks in the box, fancy gears not at the moment 4x4 next on the cards and maybe a new turbo and mani
You must love it! Plenty would have thrown a wobbly, haha! I'm envious though, always been intrigued by the awd Mk2
theres 2 ways to look at broken parts, either soul crushing disappointment, or giddy happiness that you can go out and buy more shiny shiny
