Good update. I have a question. In the thread title, why are there double apostrophes around the A? As in "A".
My mk2 is an A reg but I had to put American plates on her when I imported her to the states. Once she’s back here, hopefully at the end of the month, she’ll get her A reg plates back on
She’s at the South Hampton port!!! I can’t believe that after 8 years she’s back in the UK. I haven’t driven her since Nov 2018 and I can’t wait to give her a good run around the B roads here. I just have to wait for the military shipping company to transport her from South Hampton to Mildenhall and then I can collect her.
My mk2 is on this truck at the front on the lower level. This yard is about 5 miles from the base drop off point and about 15 yards from the mechanic that fixed my wife’s car. It’s too bad I can’t pick it up from here but at least I could see it…sort of
So I picked my car up on Monday, the 25th, and the very flat battery. I had it charged Tuesday and it’s been ok since, but I’ve been disconnecting it every night and the radio hasn’t been connected since the car got here. I’ve driven it for a few days just to check for any other issues. Today I went out to do the hand brake cables. Thanks to Dave for send me some new ones. after that I took the center console out to change the blower motor and fix the radio wiring. Now I just need to figure out where to get power from for the radio. I was gonna change the blower but AUTODOC sent the wrong one. after all that was done I cleaned up the spare wheel well for some rust prevention Next on my list is get the arches and bumpers back to black.
No problem at all, glad they were of use, better than them hanging in the shed until I have a massive purge and fling it all out. Shame about the blower, is it wrong part, or its been superceded? Battery on the mg does similar, big charge and OK for a while, then will catch you unawares one morning.
I only needed to change the left one but I’ll keep the other as spare unless someone else needs one. the blower is the wrong size so I’ll have to return it. I’ll just order a new one from GSF along with an expansion tank as mine has a crack on the top. I hope it’s just the radio being wired directly to the battery that’s draining the battery but only time will tell
blower looks like aircon version perhaps for radio dig into the dash to find the original radio wiring. red is live, brown is earth. there is no switched live as standard, but if there was it would be fed from the ignition switch pin SU to use that you need a 2.8mm latched spade to fit the socket. make sure pin is there on switch though not all of them have it. or you can tap to the glovebox light black/red wire, its on a 2 pin spade plug towards the driver side so with a bit of thought you can run an inline tap without cutting the original wires alternatively without messing with any wires, run a wire back to fusebox G spade 1,2,3 or 5
Haven’t done much lately as I’m waiting to get my seat belts back in the post…so I can send them off to a different company to be re-webbed. The only other thing I’ve done was pull the front and rear bumpers off for some love and my wife is painting my rear badges as an anniversary gift. while I was taking the front bumper off I swapped my oil switch wires to see if I can get the dash light to stop flashing but I broke the blue/red one and ran out of time to fix it. Also my engine temp on the clocks doesn’t seem to move and I’m trying to figure out if a fan shroud would help but while under the bonnet I noticed I have a yellow temp sensor with nothing plugged into it Would this be the temp sensor for the dash or is that the blue one? Other that that I’m waiting on the DVLA to register my car again and I’m hoping I get my original Reg back.
Temp sensor is 4 pin on the mk3, could very well be the problem. You can get replacement foils for the high bits on the badges , did my driver set, grafshed I think it was.
Well I guess I'll be going to the scrapy and see if I can find the 4 pin plug and then figure out how to wire it in. My wife put in a few hours painting the badges already, the one pictured was a test and the rest turned out really nice.

yes yellow sensor doews the coolant temp on dash plus the thermoswitch for the fan control module. it should be in the main sensor harness on the engine have a good look make sure its not fallen down and is hidden somewhere
I had a look around and it seems when my friend did the engine harness he didn’t add the 4 pin plug for the yellow sensor. I guess I’ll be doing a bit of wiring soon
