110degree coolant with slim fan -update- Guage still not showing over 80deg

    well dunno about mk3s but mk2s deffo wont cut the fan in till near 3/4 if the system is working properly, ive owned a couple and worked on a great many more (half way on a mk2 is about 90degrees, which is normal operating temp) the mk2 gauges arnt so accurate as mk3, they use a heated wire to move the gauge whereas a mk3 uses a stepper motor.
    as i say though i think mk3 uses a more 'safe' display which means gauge sits at 90degrees from 80-110 ish, maybe. mk4s certainly do this, and i noticed our 2000 reg seat does too. it pretty much shoots to 90 quite soon after engine warms a little and doesnt sit anywhere in between

    edit: thinking on it the difference with the mk3 may be due to the location of the temp sensor. on them its same side as the radiator pipes, whereas the mk2 one is on the opposite end. so it would take less time for the mk3 one to kick in than the mk2 one possibly
