Pics of the garage or STFU.

I remember when I first met you I came for a bumper, you couldn't find it it the garage and you eventually pulled it out of your loft!! Nutter.

    Arch work.

The arch work i had done wasn't as good as i once thought, full of filler, not now though, i've ground it all out. Decided to cut the inner arch out anyway for a few reasons.

    1. Tyre clearance. The tyre used to hit this big lump in the top of the arch and at the back where it meets the bumper.
    2. To do the arches properly, they can be beaten with a hammer and dolly now, to the correct shape (rather than hammered somewhere near then just filled like they were).
    3. Access. I can now get inside the sill and also paint parts of the cage i couldn't see before
    4. More weight saving! I'm putting a plastic liner back in.
    5. Rust removal. The sill is a poor design, and it traps water at the back, which then rots the bottom of the arch liner out. thing is the underseal is so thick in this area you can't tell, and it just rots away unnoticed.

    Big lump in the way

    now gone

    rot spot

this is how the arch was left, and then just filled to shape.

then i decided to get rid of the rest

check out where I've been chiselling filler off the arch!

LOADS of clearance now, nothing for the tyre to hit, and the rear arches match the front wings, just having a tiny folded lip at the edge to keep the shape.

And here's why I've created more clearance. It's a wide track syncro axle and going low means silly camber and toe out. I've seen a few designs for camber correction. adjustment, bought the bolts which were listed on another forum, but designed the plates myself, they are getting machined at the moment. I'll explain how they work when the plates are fitted but you can see the bolts with the eccentric washers.

This flange on the right will be cut off so i can get the bolt in and out without having to drop the rear subframe.

So, running less camber (ooh, controversial, how un-scene am I!) mean tyres getting closer to arches, i.e. less clearance. with the inner arch disposed of I can now really work the arch and move it where it needs to be to clear the tyres.

This is just a wheel thrown in the arch, with the car upside down, but you can get an ide of how far it can go before it'll ht anything. It won't be ran this low of course (shame, as it looks like a 90's touring car!!)

Note how i've taken all the filler out of the arch and beaten out the dent that the bodyshop just left behind

That was just a guess at how it's going to sit with zero camber. I'll get some proper measurements when i get the adjuster plates on and the wishbone back in.
