Stripped bare. No crank, no intermediate shaft, just main bearing caps.

    No ancillaries.

    KR: 36.0kgs

(Block @ 37.2kgs. Had one piston and rod left in. Weighed 3 piston/rod assemblies at 3.4kgs combined)

    ABF: 40.8kgs

Info wanted obviously. If any one has an alumiunium block, that'd be awesome.

    I know!

Have a look at the amount of ridges and ripples down the back of a KR...

    ...compared to a 6A ;)

You will never get the weight down to these levels even with my balsa wood racing clogs!

Ahhh, the infamous VW 0v engine!
A wise choice for low emissions, but I would like to see you push that around knockhill.

I have just noticed a power steering reservoir in Chris's engine bay![:s] I do hope that is part of a homemade engine breather system as the extra weight of the pas and pulleys will be a major handicap.
And get those top mounts turned to the back laddy!
You only need camber when you are going round corners and not up the straight. That is what castor is for!;)

You are correct - it is part of the engine breather system, one of several fitted. This is due to the high revving nature of the engine. Well spotted

    This gets worse.:o

On closer inspection I see you have gone for the lardy cable change box and get a wee battery on your christmas list while your at it. No point weighing all these bits and pieces if you do not make use of them![:s]

I bet you have a big sub in the back?;)

Ah, well you see, a cable change box is needed for the 16v powAARr.

The battery was binned last night - it wouldn't hold charge.

So on the upside, it is getting lighter, but on the downside, it doesn't move.

These things are set to try us.

Bring your scales with you when you deliver the tinnies and you can weigh it then.;)
A kind of ransom if you understand?

Seeing as your mate Gaz (rubber boy) has been holding Stella captive for you, it is the least you can do to rectify the situation of the missing ale!

Alan didn't ask what the weight was, just what block it was ;)

I know it's light, possibly a slab or two lighter than a KR - just like me, a Newky slab light.

Gaz holding Stella captive? This is news - I only saw Stella yesterday, but she did have a lift. It could be you're right... Still, I know naarthin.

Alan knows what block it is.
This information will be released into the public domain once said slab arrives.

It is very light though...Sensible amount of cams(1) and valves(8);)

It appears from where I'm sat you don't have enough cams or valves. I'm embarrassed for you. [:$];)

What the heck are you doing in the technical section my fishy pal?;)
You have kept your knowledge of things mechanical a secret from us.

As for not having enough valves.......how many valves and throttle bodies is your ride sporting?

Oversquare, lightweight alloy block, multivalve, itb tastic!
