Am i to worry?

    HI people, i was doing my weekly check in my engine bay and came across a little (what i assume to be a crack) on some part of my exhaust manifold, am i to worry about this or can i get sumthing like a steel fix paste and just try and seal it?

    please i couldnt sleep since friday wondering about it [:^(]

    no steel fix paste wont fix it...a good welder may be able to make a decent repair

    arc weld? i could do that if i had the tools [8-}]

    u got an arc welding machine?

    actualy yes i do have a arc welder....you would need stainless rods or stainless wire in a mig welder

    any quick fix? where do i go to find sum1 with a mig welder to seal it? its probably 1cm long and 2mm wide

    try a powerflow dealer ...they should be able to weld stainless steel

    Hi all. The exhaust manifold is usually cast steel. Presume yours is stainless if you're talking about stainless mig wire. The handiest rod for this is a 29/9 3.2mm using about 100-110 amps. Take your time and clean the area to be welded.

    yes sorry pigbladder it is cast steel. but shane d i don have a welder but i was planning to pigb's to weld it :lol:

    my mistake...thought i read it was staniless

    cast is even harder to weld properly

    tell me something else what is it that sits above the exhaust manifold am i right in sayin thats the inlet manifold?

    well coz now i just embarassed myself big time coz its my inlet manifold thats got it [:^(] [8-}] :thumbd: [xxx]

    an alloy welder is what you need then.....and no i havent got one

    oh goody is it cheap to fix and will da steel paste fix thing work?

    erm

    cast iron manifolds can be welded up but its a specialist job to get it done properly

    probably cheaper and far seasier to either get a new one or take a trip tot he scrappies

    i just called vw they say all the inlet manifolds for my make is aluminium and u do get aluminium welders, vw also quoted me 398,22 for a new 1
