HI people, i was doing my weekly check in my engine bay and came across a little (what i assume to be a crack) on some part of my exhaust manifold, am i to worry about this or can i get sumthing like a steel fix paste and just try and seal it? please i couldnt sleep since friday wondering about it [:^(]
actualy yes i do have a arc welder....you would need stainless rods or stainless wire in a mig welder
any quick fix? where do i go to find sum1 with a mig welder to seal it? its probably 1cm long and 2mm wide
Hi all. The exhaust manifold is usually cast steel. Presume yours is stainless if you're talking about stainless mig wire. The handiest rod for this is a 29/9 3.2mm using about 100-110 amps. Take your time and clean the area to be welded.
yes sorry pigbladder it is cast steel. but shane d i don have a welder but i was planning to pigb's to weld it
tell me something else what is it that sits above the exhaust manifold am i right in sayin thats the inlet manifold?
erm cast iron manifolds can be welded up but its a specialist job to get it done properly probably cheaper and far seasier to either get a new one or take a trip tot he scrappies
i just called vw they say all the inlet manifolds for my make is aluminium and u do get aluminium welders, vw also quoted me 398,22 for a new 1
