Not sure what car/engine you have, but if it's a 8v gti with the inlet above the exhaust manifold and there is oil sitting just below the rocker cover in the inlet manifold then i would say your rocker cover is leaking oil.

You could just get hold of a second hand manifold.. it's not like they go for huge money.

should you decide it is cracked then i dont think you should bother with any plastic metal. any body /shop with a tig welder should be able to repair this as its thick ally and very easy to weld. however as already suggested a s/h manifold is probably the best idea.

ah.i really must read posts more carefully

    where abouts is it craked??

aroud the flanges or actually through into the plenum chamber(S)

if its just on the plenums then i'd carefully clean the area, incuding inside the crack with paint thinners, then press in either chemical metal, or as daft as it might sound araldite.

i'd recommend doing this with the manifold off the car just in case any blobs go right through.

If its on the flanges then i'd suggest getting it welded up. I've got alloy wire etc for the mig here but i don't think i'm confident enough to weld it up for you.
Alloy tends to be fine until a point, then it just falls apart and your left with a huge hole

a decent local fab shop should easily be able to fix it for you

its on the plenums not near any flanges but just very awkward to get to weld it, thats y i wana use the option of paste coz it'll be 2 much to take everything off to weld wat is araldite?
