All done, drives really well so far, only done a few miles in it, will go out for extended test drive later

How lucky? Set up the camber to the 2 degs -ve I usually run, with the thinner bolt you can get 1.5 neg, any less and you'll have to elongate the strut bolt holes or fit eccentric top mounts I guess.

Thought as I'd changed the wishbones, ball joints, TRE's, ends of PAS rack and changed the ride height (raised the front 15mm so car sits level) that the track would be a mile out, put the old tracking sticks on the rims... ZERO (parrallel) !:lol::lol::lol::lol:

This is what I wanted to know  and what I feared.....

(with pukka sprint tyres, I am running 0.5-ve on front offside presently
and its still too much really)

Wonder if the H+R eccentric bolts will let you go any less ?

Just going back to the bolt issue,

An M8 8.8 Stud has a shear strength of around 3tonnes. So 2 of them will give 6 tonnes.

What are the sizes of the strut bolts? That'll give you an idea of what loading they can take.

(The crane in our workshop weighs 8 tonne, and has a SWL of 20 tonnes, it is tested up to 30 - it is held up by 4 M12 studs ;))

Not sure Rob,Phil Walker on here sells H+R stuff and Eibach list an alignment kit also with 1.75degs +/- adjustment. Around 30 from http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk

I wouldn't have any worries elongating the strut holes personally, as long as the material to the edge of the strut on the top hole isn't *too* thin...

I've been out down a favourite B road that has a succession of 'quite quick' S bends, car felt very stable through them and came out the other side with a grin like > [:D]

Pity I haven't done one thing at a time to see the true benifit from each, as those old front dampers were sooooo fecked.

AO48s like a lot of negative so I'm told, so that's no issue for me, I can though understand that you need to run little neg for your sprint tyres, could you not use the top mounts to set it up? I've no experience of those. [:$]

    All I need to know.

Right, to open a can of worms.:p The
debate about mk2 VR's handling like dogs and being too heavy etc etc.
Take it with a pinch of salt and all, but surely widening the fron
track with Pishrat/'Rado 'bones i.e giving it the same geometry as a
Corrado VR6, throws the whole argument out of the window? Unless I am
    missing something of course.

Like Andy says, the strut tops are the same distance apart, the two
(Golf and Corrado) use the same subframe and the wishbones are now the
same. Surely this gives it identical Geomery? But then why have you got
restricted camber settings with a mk2 widetrack? Just thinking about
getting shot of the ABF in the garage and investing in a couple more
    cylinders...;)

    Fordo!

Apparently the Corrado uses different 'uprights', so no. what we've done does not give the mk2, Corrado VR6 front end geo..

Right. Wasn't aware they were different. What's to stop you fitting the
Corrado uprights (uprights/Hub Carriers w.h.y) then? Other than being
    harder to source?

    Fordo!:)

Edit: So I presume it's just the offset of the strut mounting points on
the uprights is a greater distance from the front of the hub on the
Corrado (you know what I mean... I'm not feeling particularly eloquent
    tonight...)?

    Actually I'm wrong

Who knows if the non VR6 'Rado uprights offer different geo than the mk2 items? ?
