to get there quickly, have fun on country roads, and get out of situations. i.e accelaration lanes, roundabouts etc. 100mph where? surely not a 30?

In your escort which probably had crap brakes and crap suspension. Nice ..... [:s]

I think time of day has already been ruled out as being an appropriate time of day to being doing 3 times the speed limit.

I dont disagree with speeding totally. ive had silly speeds out of my bike and car but to do it in a built up area is f u c king stupidity.

Ive always said there is a time and a place.

Ive been over a car at 40 on my bike. Idiot waited til ast possible second and then pulled out on me nothing i could do hit him went over the bonnet hit gorund and bike landed on top of me.

Would i still be here if i was doing 100mph in a bike or car???? No i dont think so!

If i was in a car chances are both me and the other driver would be dead.

    Sort it out.

Yes, speeding through town is not big and not clever.

But there are 30 zones which are country lanes etc which are not likely to have pedestrians anywhere near, similar to national speed limit areas- is it ok to speed there?

I think speeding is sometimes confused by rash driving.

31 in a 30 zone is speeding, isn't it? so sue me.
But driving at 25mph sideways down the road is obeying the speedlimit, but driving like a gimp.

Dam I should have got into this discussion earlier, but I didnt spot it so heres my 2ps worth 3 pages late

I assume we talking about richgit? If he was racing at 100 in a 30 hes a plank. I wasnt there but a doubt the road was wide enough, and free enough of obstacles for that sort of speed. Not to mention IMHO I dont think a 2wd MK2 would ever have a good enough chassis to handle the sort of power people seem to want to put through them these days. 911 Turbo straight line performance no doubt, but handling? Brakes? High-speed stability? No chance. In short driving a massively over powered (again only in my opinion) Mk2 at 100 in a 30 is grossly arrogant, you run such a high risk of killing yourself or someone else.

Yes I speed, all the time Ive been caught over a ton on the Motorway twice in two years and got away with a warning and 60 fine and 3 pointer because I speed responsibly.

I guess its easier for me. Living in South Wales instead of South London Ive got no end of unrestricted usually empty country roads you can kick the poo out of your Car down. And if youre a brilliant driver youll get 10-15mph over the limit because theyre so twisty dangerous? Probably but chances are youll never seen another Car so youll only ever hurt yourself.

Not to mention for the price of a decent 20vt conversion you can build a cracking racer and do a proper series. Id challenge anyone in get there 20vtd 2wd road car around a track much quicker than our 180bhp n/a 8v mk1.
