I'll have a good nose round when I collect it.. They were going to confirm it was complete yesterday for collection today.. but no call yet.. I will likely collect it saturday morning and visit brian james again for my tyre rack I ordered last time. Hoping its quality..
Cage is in... they had omitted the passenger harness bar I had asked for, but they made on for it while I waited. Welding looks good quality to me. getting into the thing is.. well...... erm...... undigified to say the least. We then started about refitting the dash, or whats left of it after many cuts. A mere shell of its former self, but lighter thankfully. We tried my quick release steering wheel boss on, and it pushed the wheel to close to me, but worse was the slack in the thing.. a good 5 degree's of movement in the quick release coupling which is unacceptable. (that will be returned.) Refitted steering wheel as std again, and you can get in of a fashion. Mr Lard **** fat belly needs to loose some inches and kilo's
Hey Bill i spotted you on the M5 on the your way home with the car on saturday about 1ish. I was on my way up to Stafford for Marks 40th birthday. The cage looked good but i was flat out in the fast lane going the opposite way LOL get some pics up.
I've only got short legs... cant go back much. leaned the seat backwards on its rails which feels right. its awkward.. will take some piccies today when I get a mo.
yep, was on my way home.. got a tyre rack off brain james now also for me trailer, and they replaced my jockey wheel brkt which had bent also. (foc thankfully)
cage pictures now.. here's some piccies from this evening. cage in place. Its back from Custom Cages full of extra tubes and stuff.. 'kin ell... how do I get in in? (no kidding... how do I get in now??? not exactly built for being bendy in the middle ) some piccies..
thing is... you see that bloke in the background.. in the stripey shirt and belly? imagine him trying to do the same thing, and think of me LMAO...
I was too polite to point that out give it a try but get Mrs Badge to video it, shell make a fortune selling it. put my name on the first copy
nice job, apart from the front bars on the turrets, i don't like those. welder obviously having a good day, looks spot on. no wonder it's hard to get in and out of, how high are the door bars!! that's why i had mine straight from the bottom of the hoop to the turret, easier to get your legs over, and fits under the dash. no X in the main hoop?
I was thinking the same about crossed centre suport. Make sure you seal the heater hole good and proper or you'll end up with a paddling pool like my audi was.
agree on the turrets.. is that the best they can do? seen same work on others also.. no X in main hoop no, only rear diaganols they said something about its being a homolgated cage certified when it was done, and although new regs dictate different cages with even more diaganols, and additional vertical bar from overhead one to A pillar, this one apparently does'nt.
aye, i complained when they'd put the x in mine in the main hoop and not to the turrets, but they said it was to MSA regs. i wanted the rear x too but they wanted extra for that, and I'l already blown the budget going for the front and rear strut braces and the t45
PMSL at the Dukes! Quality job, just admire that welding Interesting about the homologated cage - will be, being ex-rally Seat Super Six spec, but hmm, could have changed it if they'd wanted to. Not needed for racing. AFAIK, my Mk1 cage is not homologated for rallying, but only ever used for racing, so never an issue. Front turrets same as my Mk1, and infinity's + a Mk2 Escort I've seen at CC. Reasoning is something along the lines of trying to add as much strength as poss to the flappy inner wings - which it does. Discussed this myself with CC in the past. M3s, they wouldn't bother, and they'd go straight to the back of the turret because there's enough inner wing strength. Anyhow, hope it starts to come together quickly here on in
