Cheers guys, yes it did pass its MOT. It's now tax'd and insured, insurance was only 150!! Got a couple of minor jobs to do....like the accelerator cable came off on a busy road, but sorted now... The joys of mk2 motoring lol. Here's a few pics
Looks awesome, and a good price for paint. I'll be looking for a full respray soon and would be made up having a 2k job done for half price (ok, without roof done!). Recaros look the business too... I'm too tight to pay that though even looking that good.
Cheers mate, will be going back to get the roof done at some point. Few more pics of the mk2 and my old mk4 and mk5. Got some coilovers so will hopefully be fitting in the next couple of weeks.
Little update: My car is now sitting nice and a bit lower on coillies. New g60 brakes, mk4 rear calipers with new goodridge brake lines have been fitted as well although still on the 8v master cylinder at present, don't know whether to change this as the brakes are really improved over std? Show A few will have noticed the new numberplate, however it's still a 8v, this will be next years project. Me and a mate just removed this last weekend. Bought a radio and changer just like this as well to keep in touch with the retro theme;

Sound reasoning to me mate! So you are itching to fit the ABF then, I bet. Makes pretty much the ultimate all round Mk2.
Trying to make the car look like an edition one, therefore just purchased this bonnet sticker from eBay which is really good quality and would recommend this seller. Fitted A friend of mine also sent me an early Xmas present, these were high up on my want list. Although originally fitted to the edition blue golf they really look the part with the blue writing matching the bbm paintwork.
This looks just soooooo good! I'm glad you went with the hella half smoke rear lights in the end! My BBM mk2 was similar to yours but in way worse condition! That was an ABF, bbs ra's jetex exhaust etc... pretty similar. You will be so happy with the abf it's the best n/a engine to put in a mk2! I built one using an 020 4+E box and it was good for 140 in 4th (clock speed) and then pop it into 5th and it would cruise at that speed at 5,500rpm (on private roads of course). Keep the pics up.

Very hard to go wrong with a mk2 golf in BBM really liking what direction you have gone with the car, colour coded RMs, interior, and now engine conversion.Pretty much just the way it should be done, but please take the ed1 sticker off the bonnet, spoils what is a perfect mk2..... Imho of course

Cheers guys, the wind deflectors are ClimAir and available from www.climairuk.com, was going to use Heko but these seemed better quality. The edition blue badge is a genuine mk2 golf part and these are getting quite rare, although they do come up on German eBay - eBay.de for around 50 including postage. Couldn't make my mind up at first with the edition one bonnet sticker, my intention was to make it an edition one replica and this sticker is slowly growing on me, however it can easily be taken off in the future.
Will be fitting the engine next year, need to purchase a few parts for it first. Therefore will be tapping into the forums expertise to complete the conversion.
