Hey brooky, someone once told me they aren't miles out from 16v spacing so i am sure you could make them fit with an adaptor of some kind

I think you would be better of with some 48mm ITG bodies someone may have if decides to brake the car;)

Cams may be bit small in duration and lift for your aplication at 272* and 10.8mm

m3 ones are highly thought of, better throttle plate angles than the bike derived ones

    DTH are the simplest fitment.
DCOE on inlet mani are also easy..

both have suitable throttle plate angles

Lehmann used M3 bodies on the works mk3 kit car engines. They are really nicely engineered.

I spotted those on the bay after you posted before, wondered if you got them:) Seemed like a good price, I was tempted but money is far to tight atm.

You need a plate made up so the TBs can match the face of the head, guessing it isnt a straight fit? then megasquirt and your away...........sort of:lol:

think gillm sold his at a bargain price imo, was just looki ng on the bay an e46 bodies are sub 300quid! get them on a vr6 with a custom mani and it might work well, though vr6 port spacing is abit erratic.

my thoughts exactly, from looking at them im pretty sure they can be broken into pairs, and im thinking about developing a inlet mani for a afh (1.4 16v) engine, providing the spacing is not too different..

Or check out the port spacing and see if 4 of the 6 will work on a 4-pot?

thought i would try and bring this back to life , i actually bought the set of bodies from gillm .

    so here goes guys

first of all they were not a close match in my opinion , althought 46 mm in diameter they seemed to narrow down to quite small on the inlet port side so i was a little disapointed with bmw, how ever thers plenty of m3,s running 220 to 250 bhp ish so they must have flowed enough .

so here the story begins , how do i get them to fit , they are well engineered but completly different .

i had a farly good idear on how i wanted them to work , so i made contact with brian g and sent him a drawing and between us he came up with a manifold desighn , to go from bmw to vw , so custome cast manifold commisioned and made

in fairness to brian it s a work of art how its all cast and it looks brilliant .and i am well pleased .

but i was not happy with the bmw side of things , also the m3 engine sits almost 45 degrees ,

so i cut the fooo k out of the inlet end and re shaped them , which ment i had to re shape and port match the new manifold ,that was no problem as brian cast it with plenty of meat on the bone ,
but not the case with the boddies , suprisingly the bmw yodilers cast it quite thin ,so ended up cutting a big hole in the throttle boddie runner .any how i worked out how far i could go , [:s]
end result is that i am well pleased with the way they have worked out, just got to get the one welded back up .
also got to make custome gaskets to
they all now fit to gether and sit on the vw head nicely ,angle looks good to
not mounted them to the shell yet , thats next step ,
will get my lad to put some pics up shortly ,
brian if you got any pic tag them on , cheers paul

    hi brut ,
they are butterfly type , defo not slide , ther bang on 46 mm then they re taper to bmw to vw 16v port shape , . viar the manifold

throttle boddies are nicley engineered though ,butter flys and internal tube finish is supurb ,
