DIY Tubular T3 Manifold, Top Mount Turbo (PIC HEAVY!) NOW RUNNING

    whats the car in the background with intercooler sticking out?

    also.. did you make the merge collector?

    How much would one of these fine flanges retail at Bill for us budding builders?? :)

    Nice one Bill good to know that

    Yea my mate who is a fabricator cutt the fittings and welded them to my design, took alot of explaining to what i was trying to create!

    Compressor will be pointing further down

    Its going in an A3 first then into mk2 golf, bonnets can be raised at the back if needs be

    About 50-60mm but will measure properly next time its all bolted on for trial fittment

    Manifold has today been trial fittedmalong with turbo, bolted to my engine

    With engine bolted in place i'v noticed little surgery was required to fire wall corner so compressor will clear better

    Turbo bolted back on with plenty clearance, even bonet shuts!

    Started fabricating downpipe

    Tomorrows job is to make wastegate fit and fabricat screemer pipe then remove the lot for welding and wraping

    Also need to weld on take offs for EGT sensors, i will be running two of them one for management and the other for Digital display gauge so i can keep an eye on EGT-s during hard use

    Im not a fan of the 1.8T engine, but I am a fan of quality craftsmanship, which, that is, great job and well done:clap::clap::thumbup:

    Cheers Boys its coming together

    Aiming to have it all ready for Fast Show at the Pod 27th of next month

    Lots to do yet as i have to fabricate boost pipes, install new fueling system and wire in new management then get it mapped!

    And all this in 4 w-ends i have available to me from now till then, fingers crossed

    Took some pix of this manifold at AET the other week. were abouts are you connecting the wastegate back into the dwonpipe or are you going out with a seperate screamer pipe ?

    Undecided yet, i really want seperate screemer pipe in 2" venting to atmosphere but seen as that A3 may spend most of this year as a road car as well with this set up, i am tempted to have it joining exhaust but way further down under the car

    If you're wanting to track it, screamer pipe will probably be too loud.

    I'd fit the pipe back into the exhaust. Novelty would soon wear off. Especially on the road
