Do you need a special tool..

    Yep had to do this last week as my vento has one of those grooved nuts which hold the spring on the front.

    Made it out of a size 16 or 17mm socket. But make sure it's a longer type socket (about 1.5" long - spark plug type) as it will need to reach down to the nut. Took about 2 minutes to make with the angle grinder. Doesn't need to be very strong - if you compress the spring before attempting to undo this nut then it will come off easily without much effort.

    Just beem to halfords and they didnt have one! What a suprise!

    Looks like were going to have to make one!

    Didnt fit them as we had been set the wrong feckin struts!! They had put rears in a fgront box... t**ts!!!!!

    Yes, well it wasnt a waste of a day, put the new discs and pads on and did a n oil and filter change!

    Will just have to leave the struts and top monuts untill next weekend!

    good stuff, hopefully get the right struts this time! i'm going to attempt to do my discs and pads tommorow [:o)] and i did say "attempt" [:D]

    Discs and pads is easy mate! Well it is when youve got every snap on tool made and a lift..he he!! Glad i work at a garage some times!!

    bugger! well i bet you don't have what i have! [:^:] a trolley jack that leaks fluid and hardly works, limited amount of tools in various places that can never be found,common sense that isn't so common, and i have to do it out in the street! ;)

    That's just how I like to work!!!

    nothing nicer than spreading out your spanner collection on the pavement...ahhh and then the joy of collecting them all when it starts to rain... ;)

    PS. anyone know where I can rent a garage somewhere in north/west London??? - cheap... ;)

    lol just fitted a radiator on the street on sat morning, half of the tools where still in the engine bay when driving away and the other's all across the street. i just hate when old people walk bye and comment like "your doing a good job there sun" when i'm thinking "what the f**k does that do there?"
