Do you need a special tool..

    Yeap 280's discs which were drilled and new pads

    Also we noticed that i need a cv boot and drive shaft boot too! So will get a set of boots for next weekend as well!

    did u have to make a part for those top mounts? or did the garage already have one?

    We made one up on the old grinder! Going to get a proper one though!

    Still pi$$ed of that they sent me the wrong struts as its still drove crap on the way home! [|)] Just hope i get the proper ones by next weekend as i havnt driven the golf properly for ages now [:^(] [:^(]

    probably a bit late now, but i used a pair of long nose pliers to undo that nut thing, if the spring compressors are on then all the pressure is off that nut and it came undone easy. putting it back on was the same as it tightens onto a shoulder. once its done up then release the spring compressors.

    We made a bodge tool up for this time, but ill get a proper tool for this weekend!

    Of coarse I would! As long as you dont really live in Kazakhstan as i think the postage may be a bit steep!

    I managed to take the bloody thing off quite easily. Mine were quite rusted on, so all i did was wind down the springs with spring clamps, then once the pressure was off the top mount, I tapped it off with a screwdriver to loosen it, then undid it with my fingers


    Bah, whats all this talk about paying halfords money for silly little specialist tools

    As my Dad, a machanic of 35 years says " if you aint got the right tool...botch it!!!!"

    Oversized Nut with a the two sides ground off to leave a ridge that lines up wth the slot in the nut.

    Got the tool form the sealy man today cost me 3.60 (trade) struts will be here tomorow as well.

    Also got new cv boots inner and outers today to do at the same time :p

    New struts arrived today and there the right ones this time!! :) So hopefully this weekend the golf will drive like new...lol
