Not much prolonged heavy braking on the hills so cooling hopefully shouldn't be an issue, even with solid discs. Tube from front strut is stitched into inner wing and picks up front subfrane mount also. Just got bare shell back from getting last fab work completed. Once it's painted and I start putting it together, i'll get pics along the way Paul.
I don't post much, but this is my favourite car being built end of! What's the front splitters made of please?
The one on the car in the shots is plywood. The finished one will be carbon vac'd balsa wood. Thanks for the comments too!
Er....no. Things are progressing at usual pace: slow. It's back to a bare shell and i'm nearly finished stripping off all off the paint i've put on it during the last SIX YEARS so I can prep it properly. I've got through 6 gallons of thinners up to now and the whole house stinks (again). Off to see the painter tomorrow to book it in though. I'll put some pics up when I get the computer at home back up and running.
Been watching this thread for ages. Amazing build. This latest paint stripping and preparation means it will surely be getting painted soon. I cannot wait to see the finished results as I always liked Polos, and this is going to be an absolute cracker. Keep up the excellent work.
I just know that when this is finished, it'll be that clean, people could eat their dinner off it. Look forward to the strip out pics. I'm not asking for the colour, but is the colour now decided?
........ I offered Nick some sweets at work the other day, "no thanks mate" was the reply, not like you i said, "Need to get race fit, and loose a few pounds" said Nick .................................. He was giving nowt away as usual, however, I think he may be back on the track in 2011
@project 2006 - did you have a white mk3 polo caged up, i seem to recall a build a few years ago or similar username. Back on topic - Nick, can't wait to see the progress. Hard to believe the build has been going for so many years. Makes me really kick myself for ending mine for good rather than just shelve it and slowly progress over a few years. Your workmanship is first class! Do you now run your own workshop now btw?
Well, when Dogwood told us the cas was coming apart for final paint, he meant it was coming apart! Paint colour still under wraps I believe - I suspect the pictures will do the talking once it's done.
Don't know! Just when I think i'm getting a bit of a run together, something comes along to stop the job. The painter is primed and only needs a week or so's notice. I'll be really fed up if i'm not screwing it back together over Crimbo.
