Looks great, especially with possibly the finest looking wheels ever made (IMHO)

Just got one of the new Forge 008 Diverter Valves, my old one was not holding boost right and leaking!! (it was a forge copy)

Wanted black for the OEM / STEALTH look

    Old next to the 008

    Fitted

    can't see it

Sounds good, deffinetly performs better than the one i used to have, seems to hold boost longer

Yeah didn't want no bling, black ones look best IMO, it is slightly visible from certain angles on The S3 engines too.. the engine covers are a lot different to those on the other 1.8T's

As it turns out, the old DV i had isn't leaking, its a strange design on that one as the longer arm (bottom connection) is a threaded connection which had worked loose!! (maybe the higher boost) bit of thread lock on it and it will be fine so ill use it on the MK1 Caddy I'm converting at the mo (with a AGU engine)

The Forge 008 holds boost better than the old one ever did tho so I'm impressed with it

gonna rock a Mk4 gearbox soon, code EMR which has the same rations as the MK3 16v box i have currently apart from a shorter FD.. plan to change this to a VR6 item

their is nothing wrong with my current box but id like to lower the revs a bit on the top end at cruising speed

I already have the Gearbox sat here, its a really good one that came out of my Dads MK4 2.0 GTI which iv just converted to a AUQ engine with 6 speed. He has had the MK4 from brand new and its never ever been abusedso its the perfect box to user.
i am going to have a Quafe LSD fitted. fit the late type linkage and TT short shift

Just need to source a few more bits. mainly a VR6 FD

    can anyone help ??

other news the car has just come back from a custom map, and whilst it was over at Carbon tuning it did 190 rums on the RR to help get the map perfect for me

The reading was 252BHP wit 315 ibft this was on a DYNO DYNAMICS roll g road used in Shotout mode.. they have told me it will be closer to 270 bhp if ran in another setting but i don't know much about all that.. all i now is this car is absolutely brutal!!! really love it

side by side with another MK3 running a AMK like me, but on Emeral Standalone and a K04 Hybrid (320 bhp) my car was the quickest to the shock of the other owner!!!!
made me and my tuners very happy indeed

question now is do i GT28 and risk loosing drivability or not...

Nah, at the end of the day big power figures are great to brag about but if they make your car less enjoyable to drive then they are pretty counter productive. You spend more time at low/mid RPM than you do at high rpm. I'd hate it if my golf had no grunt below 3k rpm, back in my youth i had a Graham Goode stage 2 tuned (360bhp) Sierra Cosworth and for as much as it was great fun at wide open throttle it was pish slow at low rpm, pretty poor in the midrange and ballistic at the top end, brought a smile to your face, sure, but it was a dog to live with day to day (the 7mpg when you thrapped it was painful as well!).

I love my cars quick, but like them to be quick everywhere, not just at the very top end.

*edit* Just remembered after typing that, i used to overtake my mates mum in her 1.0 mini mayfair automatic every morning in that sierra, hit the rev limiter in 2nd, into 3rd and watch in the the mirror as flames shoot about 3 feet out of the upswept tailpipes followed by her shouting abuse at me and making rude hand gestures at me. Ahh, good times!

Ahh cheers for the reply mate, I'm thinking same as you.

I am going to update the Rods, and also the Manifold for a decent one as the standard unit is pretty poor for the flow!

    in other news

I have stripped all the crap and dirt off the new gearbox and once i receive it back from having the VR6 final drive and Quaiffe LSD, i will treat it to some Black satin paint as per the 16v box i have in at the mo

    EMR code, 02J

*edit* although i'm wondering how it would look with a black VW badge on the front now...

many many thanks mate, these sort of comments make the hard work worth it, really is not easy keeping the car so clean and using it daily.. 2 weeks ago it was been driven in the bad snow!!

In other news, iv decided to upgrade my braking to S3 spec due to my 280mm GTI brakes smoking badly every time i brake hard haha

think theirs just a lil buit too much power going through them now.

I have these S3 brakes which ill be refurbing to a High standard. these are the 312mm which just fit under 16" wheels (which is what i have)

    Calipers are almost ready

also gathered all the bolts and stuff i need to refresh my new gear box, including all the parts to convert the **** mech to the TT short shift

    The TT short shift weight

Refurbished the Tower off the new Gearbox

    from this grubby affair

    to this:

hope to have the Brake upgrade on soon as possible

Gearbox will more than likely be next month as i need to get my LSD, and then send it away too be fitted, then paint the gearbox housing etc

Today i fitted my Audi S3 brake set up.

    312mm discs.

As updates previously iv refurbished these to a high standard :-)

the upgrade is needed due to the bad smoking I'm getting from the 280mm set up (early MK3 GTI set up) under hard braking.

I chose to got for a decent pad on these, after lots of consideration i chose EBC Yellowstuff. These get really good reviews. It is a track day pad but has very good bite from cold too

It is a Kevlar / Ceramic compound

Also had some braided lines made up from the Guys at HEL Performance.. got these at a superb deal with been a Club GTI member.. got my mate Ben the Red ones for his MK3 too coz I'm a good mate like that
Mine are in the Carbon finish

(Big Thanks to Ben @ HEL for sorting these)

We Had to make up some spacers to fit the bigger carriers to my hubs

Here you can see the new spacers we made for the 312mm carriers, plus extended carrier bolts i sourced made from Super High Tensile steel. also added some washers.

    280mm discs Versus the 312mm

    All fitted:

There's dirty bits on your spacers, disgusting!!! ;)

You should notice a fair improvement in braking power going up 32mm rotor size, hope they serve you well!

Their was juddering badly for the first few miles, seems it was the red stuff on the pads thats their to help bed them in, it was as tho their were biting really hard.. as i arrived home this was easing off and i can already feel how well these are going to perform :-)

really was thinking to upgrade the discs to some Tarox items.. not sure if to or not ?

the spacers and suspension will be getting a OCD clean now spring is here.. (the car is a true 100% daily driver :-))
