Found a few things... Hole in the air intake hose and a unconnected hose & plastic pipe... UNCONNECTED... CONNECTED...
Yeah, thanks. Rubjonny told me. And a lot cheaper than the VW ones, about 25 each. Need to cap off the narrow hose from the breather to the block apparently? This one , I think?
Quick question. If I change the injectors to Mercedes ones, do I have to change the injector holders to match the Unshrouded injectors?
One of the plastic injector sleeves has broke and fell into the engine. Arrrrgh! Looks like I'll be taking the inlet manifold off at the weekend then? I think I'll change the rocker cover gasket while I'm on, as it's leaking oil from there. Might as well give it an oil change also. Nothing's EVER simple!
Good job I've already got spare plastic inserts as well. Don't think the driver would have got the box in the door otherwise. lol
Started to dismantle the Air Inlet on the car. Just as well, as it turns out that ALL of the plastic injector inserts are broken. Couldn't tell until I took the manifold off. So new rocker cover gasket, both air inlet gaskets, brass and plastic inserts to replace this weekend.
Manifold off. Old injector inserts out. New ones in. Rocker Gasket changed. Just need to start putting it back together before giving it an engine flush and oil change. Took the brass inserts out with this... Old ones... New ones... Rocker cover gasket changed and cover cleaned up...
Still waiting for my new injectors to be delivered, so I decided to remove the clocks etc. to replace the old dim bulbs.
Injectors finally arrived yesterday (Two weeks late). Put them in last night and the car seems to be running miles better. Started up first turn. No misfire or backfire. Didn't have time to take it for a drive as it was very late. But only a good test drive will tell. Hopefully tonight.
Got the Mercedes injectors in. Had the car for a test drive. It was fine for about 5 minutes, but after that it started wanting to cut out at slow speed and everytime I hit the brakes hard, it cut out completely? I used self amalgimating tape to tape up the end of the breather pipe and where it fits on the block. I'm just wondering as the breather pipe gets hotter with the engine temperature, if it's sucking air throw the end? Is that stuff air tight? This is driving me insane!!
Had a quick look at the car after it cooled down a bit, and as suspected the tape I've used to blank off the breather has stretched with the heat from the engine and it's got a tiny hole in it. So I'll have to think of something else to use to blank it off. Try again tomorrow.
My Trackslag exhaust. Sounds better in the flesh. My camera doesn't have a very good microphone. It has more of a rasp tone to it. http://vid1337.photobucket.com/albums/o668/gazzaj71/IMG_0817_zpsomdfjkub.mp4
