If all goes to plan I'll be picking up my mk3 16v this evening with 130k on the clock, it has loads of history, but just how good are these engines???
I was a bit worried about the miles but have seen some with over 150k, only need it for around 400 miles a month (work and back) i have a diesel for the long runs!
We picked one up at 130K and used it untill the body rotted through my neglect at 250K, it did about 750-1000 miles a week and got beaten regularly. Never used oil between services and didnt smoke! Keep it on good oil and cambelts/tensioners and only cane it when the oil os hot, it should last well!
mk3 16v here with 84k on the clock, it will be getting oil changes every 5,000 miles from this point onwards!
Check that he can't find the paperwork for the car icluding the V5 and service history, so looks like i won't be getting that one! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I've been looking for 2 weeks now it's driving me NUTS
My Mk2 8v had 186K on it when I took it off the road. Am confident that if i took a battery to her now she'd start
My MK2 8Valve has only got 116K on the clock. Bought with only 94K on it. I've replaced everything except the exhaust now. Just done everything on the cooling system side today, I really mean everything.
Bought mine with 70,000 on it in 97' Now has 116,000 All history inc PDI sheet, sales invoice etc I've even kept all the road tax etc over the years
mk dads mk3 1.9 turbo diesel has 220,000 miles, bit of rust here and there but flew through mot and drives like new. nothing gone wrong with it
My 16v Corrado has just hit 229k and still going strong. Although it does have FSH with over 25 stamps in the book!
bought mine with 133k 2 yrs ago withfull history (8v) shockers had popped clutch went head gasket went cv gaiter split changed oil pump for peice of mind - as 8v oil pumps are pants apparently for a car thats just hit 148k not bad imo - now uses no oil what at all after doing steams while head was off.. and get oil change 4 times a year..
