having a right mere at the moment getting decent quotes for some powerfullish cars.

just wondering what insurers i should be looking at?

what car you got?,how old?, how much?, which insurer?
to get an idea of what i should be paying.

    best quotes so far:

    03 wrx sti - 2.5k
    04 clio v6 - 2.5k
    03 S3 - 1.5k

these are totally unacceptable, but i must be able to get them cheaper, these are with limited mileage, alarm, tracker, garage, 5yrs ncb, good postcode, etc etc... [:s]

How old are you? Do you have a clean licence? Is the car a daily driver or a second car? Limited mileage?

    I believe Wez is 22.

That's very young for cars that quick!

    My R32 was 900 but I was 30 when I had it.

Loving your quote for the V6...i'm 19 and pay 1450, although with the crash i don't think it'll stay that low anymore. [8(] Also i pay just over 3k with them because i've got a mutlicar policy but when its broken down i pay 1450 for the clio.

    EDIT - I do have a 950 excess.

When I first bought my GTI, it was something silly like 115. That's the advantage of being over 30, having it as a second car and having limited mileage on the policy. Since I've had it, I've modified it (and declared the mods), and increased my limited mileage, and added and removed cars onto the same policy (its a multi-car policy) so its not really possible to split out how much each car is.

Wez, try doing some quote on an Z3M Coupe or VX220 or a 111s Elise, i've always found cheap-ish quotes on them. Thats with Admiral and with an older additional driver.

Do what I've done for my son. Add your Dad!!
It brought the price down from 850 to 673 for a 18year old lad on a 1.6 PoloGT. With Adrian Flux I think. Still extorsionate as the car is only worth 650.
Mine, being well over 40 yrs old, for the K'reg 16v is 168 fully comp, protected.[:D]

Ok here's me messing around with my age being 21, 1 years NCB and 3 points (speeding).

All quotes are merely TPFT with Social use:

    Audi TT 225: 920
    Audi S3: 850
    Clio V6: 1800
    Mazda RX8: 1100
    Audi S4: 980
    Porsche Boxster 2.7: 2500

    and.....

    Audi RS4 (2.7 Bi-turbo Avant): 1100! [:D]

Fully comp on most were an extra 300-500 and for the RS4 with full comp, business milage it was still only 2500! :)

So if your son prangs it (and I really hope he doesn't), does that affect your insurance in any way? Would you have to declare his crash/claim when you insure your own car?

And why do the insurance companies make it cheaper? Surely they must be aware that young inexperienced drivers are adding their dads just to get cheaper insurance?

(Doesn't affect me as I'm well past 40, but just curious)

    what company G?

did more "research" yesterday and managed to get it down to 500 fc on the s3 [:D]

might try and look at multi policies, think my current insurer does 'em, and keep the mk3 as well :)

Can't remember which company that was with. Just used rubbish confused.com, and thats not the cheapest around as some of the quotes fluctuate.

I've gotta phone around around May time as i require business use which really throws the spanner in the works with quotes.

If your young you will be classed as having a much higher risk of crashing & insurance company's are pushing this up more each year with so many youngsters getting killed.

mine was 1800 odd for me on my mk2 valver, www.ecarinsurance.com (or .co.uk!)

talking about insurance gives me a headache. some people get stupidly low prices and I just dont see how. Like sarah, 1450 for a v6??? that remarkable.

I found on my valver that it's now cheaper to insure than it was standard. Admittedly that's with different insurers. Standard car with Direct Line came out at 500. Now with ABF and all the other mods insured with HIC 480

The Direct Line quote was what they sent as a renewal. Yet when I done a quote online it came down to nearer 400 [:s]

Older shape impreza's are around the 600 mark.
    1100 for an EVO 4.
Escort Cossie's came in at 1000...

I insured my Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo (ins group 19) for 1300 odd when I was 24 with 3 years NCB. Now I have 5 years NCB and have owned the car for 2 years (and I'm 26) my renewal is coming up at about 500 with protected NCB.

When insuring any car that you've just purchased, the first year of ownership always has a higher rate, so you always get stung on your first year premium. My second year premium was only 800, my third (as i said above) is only 500 odd.

Ive managed to get a quote of 1400 quid on my dads GTi 8V, obv me second driver as im 17, with elephant. Ecarinsurance gave me another good quote of 1700. So tbh, i'd go for either of those two and also admiral.
    Jonny.
