I am a student, im paying monthly, using money i saved up all summer, and also using student loan/grant. Im currently 1200 in overdraft and working as much as I can atm in the summer. And before anyone mentions parents, theyve paid SOD ALL towards it lol.
hahah bang on.. other than a roof over my head my parents have not given me a penny either.. and im thankful for that! as i still know ppl now at my age getting everything paid for... boy are they going to have a shock when they enter the real world!
David - Good on you! I don't think anyone assumed your folks were helping out though. At 19, I was at Uni but working all holidays and doing OTC (paid) during term. Also got naff all help but managed to just about run a mk2 GTi by 21. Only just though!
I just couldn't put myself in debt for a car again, one of the reasons my track car restoration has slowed down to a crawl at the moment.
Mike - know what you mean. Very nearly paid off the Astra (half paid up front, the rest on 0%) and seriously considering just keeping it and having the financial joy of a "free" car for a while. Paying interest on a car loan is about as sensible as buying a semi in Gaza.
