Churchill.co.uk i found was the best. just turned 21 in jan and a vr6 corrado was just under a grand TPFT. I couldnt bring myself to pay that let alone 2.5k.

I wouldn't bother insuring a Mk2 8v fully comp unless it's really mint - especially if you have to pay double its value every year!

Mine's 400 fully comp (std) for a 35 year old with full no claims and I'm considering changing to TPF+T, and to another company. Can't believe I turned 35 and it still went up.

im 20 with 2 years NCB. yesterday i did a quote with elephant on a 1990 8v gti, and TPFT was 709, which i was quite impressed with. although, the quote was with their 10 month insurance policy, so basically the price equates to 850. im going to shop around a bit first before i buy a gti, cos this year my insurance on my 1989 1.6 CL is less than 400 TPFT for the year. im a student so money is tight, but i need a gti!

thats with elephant.co.uk! my birthday's in nov, i could insure a g60 by july (at which point i will hopefully have 2 years ncb) thats tpft, fully comp was a couple of hundred quid more

My valver was insured when i was 18, 1 years ncb, driving 1 year, 1200

helpful hint, with elephant, put 3 extra (experienced) drivers on the policy and save yourself 500 ;)

you would be very very silly indeed to pay 2500 insurance for a golf!

infact! 2500 is a really rediculous price to pay for insurance, considering my mate is about to turn 19 and he's having a 3.0 turbo supra, aswell as having 3 points on his licence and he just wrote his merc off... he's insuring that for 1700 (thats through the autotrader insurance thang)

so you see how silly 2500 is yet?

    (i'll quit my ranting now)

yeah, i didn't get how it was good news either! [:s]

    i wouldn't word it like that...i'd say stupid...but yaeh.

what about the next years premium? how you gonna pay that.

also, i'm guessing the 6k was borrowed...and turst me, you're better off paying off the loan. you'll wanna buy a house in a few years and any outstandaing debt is a real problem.

Well my driver cost me 1700 to insure (same price as an 8v TPFT). then the following year it cost me 700. so if the renewal for the 8v is anything like that its not a problem.

The loan is taken care of, i have a part time job which is paying a lot, lets say more than your average and payng the loan off is a doddle, (it can be payed off by the end of this year). im quite lucky as i am still a student with a PT job i still live rent free with my parents. Only loan i am going to have is a student loan which has to go on Uni Fees...

GOD SAKE! i wish id never said anything now, for the past 2 years i have never been allowed insurance on a gti. now i can finally get one. if i get TPFT it will cost me 1800, if i get fully comp its over 2K more around the 2.2 mark.

if u know people who are getting cheaper insurance than me rather than moaning at me, advise me and tell me where they are getting it from so i can take a look!
