Why did you insure a driver fully comp for 1700

You paid more for the insurance than the company would have EVERT paid out if you had written it off.

   Very clever [8-}]

Because he got to drive the car he wanted at the time??

At the end of the day, its his cash. I think he would be mad for paying it, but its totally up to him wether he does or not.

Might as well bend over and let them give it to you good and proper while you are there too.

i didnt say my driver was fully comp... because it never was! it was insured under a parent so there was no way i could have ever been fully comp.. my driver was completely standard and i was only ever insured TPFT. i dont know why your trying so hard to have a dig at me...

Reason i want to go fully comp on a gti is that if i spend money on coil overs, ats cups and the likes the car will be worth a lot more, obviously i wouldnt pay unless i had an agreed ammount on what id get back.

It's silly money but no matter what anyone thinks it's his money and he can spend it how he likes... :)

I paid 1200 fully comp for a Corrado VR6 back when a 2nd hand one was 13000 and I was happy to pay it at the time.

Now I could have a TVR Cebera and a Corrado & MK2 Golf Gti 16V fully comp for that sort of money, pays to be an old git. ;) :p

nothing is wrong, just that i was 17 with 0 years driving experience. for someone with only 6 months driving experience insurance companys charge a lot for a 1.6, like i said they charge a lot for anything. maybe it does have something to do with the area i live in (cars do get broken into a lot round here). Back then when i typed into the insurance quote thing GTI 8v it just came back at the end, sorry we cant insure you on this vechile

    I wish! ;)

It's on my list when I've some projects sorted to pay for it, under a grand for fully comp, it'd be a crime not to get one. ;)

Try CIS for cheaper insurance mate - worked for me. Oh and FC on a car that's worth very little is a bit crazy, try quotes for TPFT as well...

I used to hate getting insurance quotes - wasnt ill i was 21 that I could afford (not stretch myself) to insure a gti - that was 850 for a mk3 f/c.

Im 23 now, will have 5 yrs no claims at renewal (and 3 accidents!) The quote ive had for my camper is 280, with 5 yrs protected ncb (agreed value of 4k). If I ever find a mk2 GTI, then to insure that as a second vehicle will cost me 480 f/c - thought that was a good quote, as it's with 0 ncb and all accidents declared [:D]

My insurance went down when I put my G/F on the policy, and even more when i added my mum as well.

    ok thanks for your help,

im currently with CIS on my focus, they wont insure me on a 1.8driver, a gti is out of the question.

    must give admiral a try

elephant is who i am looking at, they are the only people who will insure me on a gti..

ok there is some REAL good news at last, i can go with admiral for 1500 TPFT on an 8v GTI. my current car is 1400 so to be honest 100 difference for an extra 30 something BHP is nothing!
