K-jet will have braided hoses coming from the fuel distributor, which lives on the driver's side inner wing.
If it hasn't got those it's not k-jet & therefore is crap!
(just trying to cause an arguement)

TBH I don't know which is "better", K-jet is simpler so therefore easier to fix but I guess that digi might be more efficient.

    Let the battle commence.

If its the car in the picture it has the digifant engine. Digifant is electronicaly controlled injection, K-Jet mechanical. Digifant is the more complex system. Its not favoured by enthusisasts as you lose some of the characteristics of the classic golf 8v engine.

If it's the F reg in your sig, it will be digi. Unless it's a 16v cos they're all k-jet

For pure ease of maintenance & simplicity, K-Jet wins hands down. Digifant is a complex beasty, and has to be setup just so otherwise you end up with poor performance, economy and throttle lag.

I had a Digifant which had all that from the start, and here I am nearly 2 years later and I still haven't sorted the poor economy! I've sorted the performance & lag issues, but only getting 120 miles to 20 of fuel is driving me absolutly mental ah tell thee

20 of fuel at (nearly) 5 a gallon = 4 ish gallons, 120 miles on 4 gallons is 30 mpg. That's not too bad for an old GTI, is it?
    I average 26mpg over a tankful.

That's what I would expect for a car of that age & performance, what did VW claim that they should do?

My digi has ran perfectly for nearly the past 18mths i've owned it. It's only recenty I've noticed it seems a little down on power and idle seems a little lumpy. I've cleaned the ISv but I suspect the TB could do with a good clean. I was cleaning up the spare inlet mani I bought last night and noticed how dirty the TB gets inside,

    ermm....

just have to get the calculator out:lol:

    the manufacturers spec for the 1.8 8v digifant(82kW) = 36.2mpg @ 75mph aacts

    and for a 1.8 8 valve k-jetronic(79kW) = 33.6mpg @ 75mph aacts

    and for a 1.8 16v k jet(102kW) = 34.8mpg @ 75mph aacts

and just out f interest it says the syncro = 31.4mpg @ 75mph aacts

so theres a difference but not a very big one:clap:
