Finally the tappets and bits have arrived and looks like I have a chance this weekend to get them in. Quick query on camshaft removal. Set piston no. 1 to TDC then what is the best order for removing the bearing caps? "Haynes book of lies" up to 1992 gives an order but it covers camshafts with 5 covers not with the 3rd / 4th missing that seemd to appear later.
IIRC I just loosened them off evenly until the cam was no longer compressed, may not be the correct way of doing it but it worked for me.
well I managed to change the tappets today. And gave it a good clean inside again. Cross fingers now. It is quiet now though. Hope it lasts.
