Lazy Tappet

    Finally the tappets and bits have arrived and looks like I have a chance this weekend to get them in.
    Quick query on camshaft removal.

    Set piston no. 1 to TDC then what is the best order for removing the bearing caps?

    "Haynes book of lies" up to 1992 gives an order but it covers camshafts with 5 covers not with the 3rd / 4th missing that seemd to appear later.

    IIRC I just loosened them off evenly until the cam was no longer compressed, may not be the correct way of doing it but it worked for me.

    well I managed to change the tappets today. And gave it a good clean inside again. Cross fingers now. It is quiet now though. Hope it lasts.

    was this issue ever cleared up as my car is suffering the same at the mo?
