There was a repeat of Overhaulin on last night which had a fabulous 50s ford which was a proper grass cutter but I don't really like it on many cars. Especially when my coilovers keep exploding. Roll on Land Rover with lift kit. It's definitely the way to go.
[cliche mode]`Bags are for fags`[/cliche mode] Saying that, I absolutely loved that van. Especially watching him not bother raising it up and dragging it throw the dirt and stones on the way out...
nice parking in the long grass the van and the brazila were awesome. saw a karmann ghai at bugjam last year, he could go lower if it wasn't for the ground
I've always throught it would be a good anti theft/anti clamping device if,when you park the car, you literally lift the wheels off the ground and up in the arches. Like to see someone drive off in your car with the bottom of the car on the floor.
Stu, against the post 1 definition of lowering, this appears to be a lowering fail? Note from scene teacher: "must try harder" Came looking for the CGTI Manchester crew on Sunday, but didn't manage to find
haha someone should do that at the next show - dig 4 holes for the wheels to go in so it looks like it's slammed.
`Appears`, yes... but if you see the van or Brasilia on the road, they are actually at a `sensible` height. Mine is that low at all times... I did trial-fit a VR6 front splitter, but it was touching the ground... And, yes, my wishbones are inverted, and my inner CVs won`t last long, but this is a sh*t car that I don`t really care about, so I`ll just be enjoying it while it lasts. Granted not as low as that mad kid who was on here a while back with the rusty Mk2, that kept ripping fuel lines out, but not far off. So far I`ve high-centered on two speed bumps, had the subframe smack a raised ironwork, and got stuck on the pavement outside my mates house. The one that caused the most hassle was the automated carwash at my local Tesco; Drove in, up to the stop bar, car got washed, drove over the stop bar, then BANG, I wasn`t going any where... The subframe/rear wishbone mount was trapped under the bar... Had to jack the car up, then drive off the jack to get free, and reverse all the way out of the carwash, much to the amazement of the staff. Saw you guys parked up on Sunday, but didn`t see you around. We were parked in the display area near the bend in the track, across from the show and shine judging tent entrance. A bit more low-key this year, since not all of guys could make it.
Ha, ha. So if we averaged the height the Brasilia sits at a show and the height on the road, your's is equal, if not lower FTW! Love the car wash story! Anyway, part of the reason I posted this thread was this: Not knowing what this car was (debates on the phone had it down as a 411 or a K70 - a Brasilia means something else? ), I don't know what the panelwork is like on them, but they look to me like tubbed inner arches. Can anyone confirm? I find a "little bit" worrying is that all this lowering for stance is resulting in inner wing modifications. I don't think engineering techniques more commonly associated with Touring Cars and WRC cars have much place at VW Shows. Discuss.... Ah, I am sure I saw the car, but was looking for a banner as the giveaway. Was there one?
