looks like you are missing the brackets for it on the chassis leg, they look like this:

If you look very closely to the left of the battery positive terminal, you will see the bracket that the metering head / airbox clips to on the ns chassis leg..

Click the bar at the top of the pics to enlarge them. ;)

I may have these brackets but they will need drilled off the car up here. You would then need to spot weld or I suppose self tapper them onto your own chassis leg.

I will investigate tomorrow and see if they will remove with drilling out the spot welds.

I even wrote "leave the package at neighbours if nobody in" on the blooming thing when I sent it off.

you can mount it any way you like, on my 16v i profiled the bottom of the airbox so it just sat on the wing. it never went anywhere

    Gear linkages now:
Right i got all the linkage i need and a new rod, but i think i need a new gearstick?
    Here some pictures.

The bottom one is the new one i got.

and this is the old gear stick stuff, I think i need new this?

Also where i am changing it to 5 speed from 4 speed, do i need to do some cutting to make way for 5th gear?

you need the entire gear stick, linkage and also the box that bolts to the car. what you have there isn't enough!

Half of those linkages are now with our Daved!!

I will have a look this morning and locate a gear stick and it's housing. It may be a rocco stick which is curved though, presume this will still fit in a mk1 Golf fine?
The other thing is the rubber gaiters are all a little worse for wear with tears, due to the oil and heat from the exhaust affecting the rubber over the years. Are the rubber boots still available RJ? Pretty sure I saw this mentioned the other day on here.

someone did say the scirocco bay linkages were different to mk1, but i never could find any etka evidence to support this. plus so far as i know the engine bay and mountings are all the same where it counts? the stick should still fit fine just it'll have a bit of a droop on

aye boots are avail from vw:
    171 711 195 C - boot - 15.23
    171 711 210 - plastic inspection cover - 2.49+VAT

drooped/curved refer to the same thing, the rocco stick has a bend in it :)

I think the gear sticks start out straight, but the acceleration of the 8v engine over time causes them to bend.

Not sure why they are curved to be honest, the mk1 Golf ones are straight but have an angle at the bottom that means the gear knob ends up in pretty much the same place. [:s]

Just going out for a rummage now.

Well I say going out, but I am going to have a cuppa tea first. :p

I will see if I have a spare straight mk1 stick, if not will the curved one be ok? Ergonomically it is a fine looking shaft don't you know. ;)
